Little Mermaid Party Ideas – Lots of Disney Princess Crafts and DIY!

I am a member of the Collective Bias®  Social Fabric® Community.  This Disney Princesses The Little Mermaid Party Ideas shop has been compensated as part of a social shopper insights study for Collective Bias and their client, Disney Walmart.

I love Disney Princesses – I’m sure you’ve guessed that by now. I have a Pirates & Princess party board on Pinterest, that I used when planning Abby and her cousin’s birthday party this summer. I also have a Disney Fun board too, where I collect more princess ideas. We’ve had a Cinderella party, a Disney Princess birthday party, and we’re planning a fun princess tea party for one of these days when I get all of the little girls together.  I love sharing sneak peeks at the new Disney movies – {did you see that they’re making a  new live-action Cinderella movie? So excited!} And another thing I love is creating fun memories for Abby, like our recent The Little Mermaid crafting party.

Best birthday celebration, princess party ideas

How to host a super simple Princess Party

If you’ve read this site very long, you know how much I LOVE to throw a party. Just in the past few months, we’ve had a Cinderella Princess Party, a Monsters U playdate, and then last weekend we had a HUGE double birthday party for my little girl Abby, {she turned 3} and my nephew who turned 7. It was a super fun time – half of the party was jungle animal themed {stay tuned to see details on that one!} – and the other half was Disney Princess style. But, since we’d just spent a full 7 days up camping in the mountains, I had only a really short time to put it all together. And I’m excited to show you what I found that made it seriously simple to throw a perfect princess birthday party – keep reading to check it out and learn how to make the best birthday ever…

How to DIY a Perfect Disney Princess Party - lots of fun and affordable party ideas!

Creating a Dream Birthday Party Celebration

Ok, I’ve been known to go a little overboard with parties. I like to put together great music playlists, fun foods for the kids, and loads of themed decorations – even for little pool party get togethers. What can I say? “My name is Meagan, and I like to party.” :) But, all of that work can be crazy-time consuming. Hitting up the craft store, the party supply store, ordering stuff online, going to a bakery, then to the grocery store… That’s a lot of work. But ladies, there’s an easier way – Walmart. Yep, in just one stop I got absolutely EVERYTHING that I needed for this princess party. From food and a specially designed cake to party decor and even gifts, and I did it on a budget too.

Princess Party DIY Display table

Walmart has a super cool new party section {at select stores} where they’ve partnered with Hallmark and Disney to put together themed “shops” with everything you need to create a dream party for your kids. {If you want to see everything we bought, and where you can find it, check out my Princess Party birthday shopping spree trip.} I bought one package that included all of the party favors above – princess wands, tattoos, sparkly rings, and those little boxes are filled with rolls of princess stickers. So much fun. Then I used a couple of the paper plates we bought, and glued a plastic princess cup in between – and bam! I had a super cute, and super affordable, display table to show off all of the little prizes and favors.

 Princess Party Games

The girls got to pick one of the pretty princess party favors each time we finished played a game, until they were all gone. If you’re planning your own party too, here are a few ideas you can use for games and activities to keep little girls busy and entertained:

  • Princess Puzzle: Buy a Disney Princess puzzle at Walmart. Then hide the pieces around the house. {We used the toddler type puzzle, where there’s only 10-15 bigger pieces.} Then have the girls work together to find the pieces and put the puzzle together.
  • Freeze: Tell the girls that the evil stepmother is threatening to “freeze” the entire kingdom. Then turn on the music, and let them dance until the evil stepmother {adult} turns the music off. Then they all have to FREEZE!
  • Princess Play Doh: Pick up some basic Play Doh in pretty colors, and some assorted bottles of glitter in the Walmart craft section. Let the girls pick their favorite glitters, and knead them into their doh, making it princessy.

There are also a ton of cute games and crafts you can buy at Walmart – the party section has kits to make your own tiara and a balloon drop, and the toy section has a cute Princess Cupcake game too.

Making princess birthday party hats

More Princess Fun – Decorating Party Hats

I bought a package of the Disney Princess party hats in the Dream Party section, and a roll of Birthday Princess ribbon in the craft department. Then, after we played games and the girls all had their boxes of princess stickers, I let them decorate their own princess hats. How cute are these?

Princess party cups instead of favor bags

Princess party cups instead of favor bags

Instead of buying those little plastic favor bags {which are super cute, I know} – I bought a big selection of these plastic princess cups. {They’re only .97 cents each, can you believe that? And they even hold up in the dishwasher.} The girls each got to choose their favorite one, and fill ’em up with their favors all day long. They loved them!

Disney Princess Party Movies

 Disney Princess Party Movies

And of course, we had all of our favorite Disney Princess movies playing all day long! I’m such a junkie for princess films :) I also have the Disney Princess game for the Wii, and we let the girls play that for awhile too. It’s super cute watching them pretend to be their favorite princesses.

Princess party celebration

It’s time to make a wish…

After all of the fun games, and some time to swim in the pool – it was time for cake and ice cream! That’s my nephew on the left, and Abby blowing out the candles on her Little Mermaid cake from Walmart. And in the background – that’s my brother. Even he got into the Disney Princess party spirit :) We got to customize the cake any way we wanted – so we got a yellow cake with chocolate butter cream filling. Delish, seriously. I think it was the best store-bought cake I’ve ever had!

birthday celebration presents

What’s a birthday celebration without presents?

We got princess gift bags, pretty wrapping paper, and more princess ribbon to wrap all of Abby’s gifts. And of course – her presents were princess-themed too! I got her this adorable Ariel carriage to match her cake, an Ariel Mermaid Barbie, a huge set of Disney princess dollies, and more – all at Walmart, which means they were a great deal. I definitely had a happy little princess that day…

DISNEY PRINCESS SUBSCRIPTION BOX MAKES THE BEST GIFT!

If you’re here, I’m guessing that you are a Disney Princess lover too :) So, you HAVE to check out these super amazing PLEY subscription boxes. They now have Disney Princess boxes!! You can see a bit of Abby’s favorite box, and all that comes in it, in the video above. I priced all of the items that were in it, on Amazon and the Disney Store – and this box was a seriously amazing deal. Plus it’s so fun that it’s always a surprise of which princess is coming next, there are exclusive items, and the box turns into a really cool DIY castle, tower, etc to play with too. We can’t say enough good stuff about this!! This would be such a fun gift for a birthday girl.

How to Create a Cinderella Princess Party – #DisneyPrincessWMT

“Oh, that clock! Old killjoy. I hear you. ‘Come on, get up, you say, Time to start another day.’ Even he orders me around. Well, there’s one thing. They can’t order me to stop dreaming.” – Cinderella… I loved Cinderella as a little girl, but we only had it on an old VHS, so Abby hadn’t seen it yet. Which means that you know I was ALL over it when I heard that it was being released on BluRay, and started planning a fun party to get some of Abby’s friends over to watch it. If you’ve been reading here for awhile, you probably remember that a few months ago Abby had a seizure. It was the scariest thing that I’d ever been through in my entire life. Ever. Full-on Grand Mal seizure, and she wasn’t even two yet. They had hoped that it was just a febrile seizure – related to a fever. Well, I haven’t posted about it here yet, but I’ve talked to some of you on Facebook about it… She’s had more. We’ve been driving a few hours both ways to Seattle Children’s Hospital for appointments, since the doctors here in town aren’t sure what’s wrong. So – saying that life has been a little stressful is an understatement. And it also means that we were in definite need of some fun times. So momma got to work putting a Cinderella party together to help Abby shake things off and have a fun day!

Calling Princess Lovers: Win the Mega Bloks 3-Story Enchanted Castle Playset!

“Don’t call me GODDESS, don’t call me QUEEN, just call me the cutest PRINCESS that you’ve ever seen.”…. As a little girl, I adored princesses – like most other little girls do. So I have been seriously SO happy that my little girl has recently been bitten by the princess bug too. {We’re even planning a big party here to celebrate the remastered release of Cinderella on DVD soon…} We like to play dress up – Yes, mommy too. We like to play princess songs and dance and sing in the kitchen while making dinner. And we love any type of toys that let us play with princesses too. So – I’m excited to share a new fave that we’ve found, and even MORE excited to give you guys a chance to win one too. Check it out…

Mega Bloks Princess Castle

Mega Bloks Lil’ Princess 3-Story Enchanted Castle

How cute is this, right? We have a few other castle-type playsets, but this one is extra cool because you are able to build it into a different castle each time you play. The towers can be detached and switched around in several different ways – With one tall as in the pic, with two tall ones, or with the tower tops used as a back piece to the bottom rooms, so that you can easily store all of the pieces. LOVE it. And there are other blocks and accessories included too, to customize things even more. We’re pretty big fans of Mega Bloks here – we have the Steer-Me Steve, a few basic building block sets, the Thomas the Train sets, and a really fun new set of alphabet blocks – watch for a post soon about the playdate party we’re having, to share more of those sets with Abby’s friends too. These are just a perfect toy for encouraging creative play for little ones who are still perfecting their motor skills. And they’re all simply adorable too.

Princess playset for toddlers

Perfect Princess Set for Toddlers

While this is sure to delight just about any little girl – It’s extra perfect for a toddler’s little hands. Unlike a lot of the princess sets we’ve seen recently, these are chunky-sized characters and accessories, making them easy for toddlers to hold. And, all of the pieces are super durable… My 2 year old is a sweetheart, but can be pretty wild – I have to be careful with the toys I give her, since she can break things quickly, leading to small {unsafe!} pieces lying around. But these are totally unbreakable. {I mean, if you ran over it with a Power Wheels, it’s probably not going to make it. But during regular toddler play, they’ll be just fine.}

Enchanted castle set

Why you’ll love this Enchated Castle Set

There are some other super cute features to this playset too – Things that are super adorable and will totally delight the kiddos. Here are some of the stuff you’ll love:

  • Princess Ivy has a magic pop-up tiara that rises when you set her on a block, or when she rides her pony Chestnut. And the plony has fun sparkling wings that are removable.
  • This adorable princess can be set atop the castle, and there’s a little switch to slide back and forth to make her twirl and spin – Abby loves to make her “dance” – so cute.
  • The set also includes two chairs, a table, a mirror and food for Chestnut.
  • You get a huge sheet of colorful stickers to decorate the enchanted castle – or your arms and legs, if you’re a two year old who steals the sheet before mommy is done with it.
  • Can be combined with other Mega Bloks Lil’ Princess buildable playsets – including additional princesses and ponies – for tons of fun.

Love it, right? And now you and the little princess in your life have a chance to win this whole playset and accessories, totally free! I always get super excited to give away great prizes like this :) Use the easy peasy Rafflecopter form below to get your entries in – and remember, you can complete as many, or few, entries as you like. The more you enter, the more chances you have to win! And if you’re feelin’ especially lucky today, scroll down my sidebar to enter to win all of the other fun prizes that I’m giving away this month! Good luck!

Your Little Princess Can Party with Cinderella – Learn How #DisneyPrincessWMT

“A dream is a wish your heart makes when you’re fast asleep.” – Cinderella… I bet you sang that as you read it, didn’t you? Yep, Cinderella is one of those movies that is such a wonderful classic. One of my very favorites as a little girl. Well, heck, I guess almost all of my favorite movies as a kid were Disney Princess movies! Which is why I’m ashamed to admit… I’ve just recently introduced Abby to the princesses. She’s two. Why didn’t I do this sooner? We just always let her watch whatever new kids movies were available on our On Demand… I’ve actually purchased very few DVD’s for her. But we recently hosted a Fisher Price Houseparty, and Abby got a chance to play with the new Little People Disney Princess Castle – and she plays with it EVERY day! She loves to sing along with the “sin-sesses.” So, I realized it was time to have her get to know all of my faves a little better – starting with Cinderella!

Cinderella outfit

“A letter from the prince…he’s having a ball…and all eligible maiden’s are to attend… why that would mean me too!” – Cinderella

How sweet is this set, right? A pretty dress for my pretty little princess – and a matching Cinderella tiara too of course. Why Cinderella? Well, in addition to being the very first princess movie that I watched as a little girl – on October 2, Disney is releasing it again on an updated and upgraded Blu-Ray/DVD with bonus content. Very cool. The only other princess that Abby has watched is Rapunzel from Tangled {whom she simply adores.} So we’re going to celebrate the launch of the movie with a super cool event coming up at Walmart, and host a princess-perfect party for the little girls we know too. I am seriously pretty darn excited about it all. Like, I want a Cinderella dress too…..

Cinderella Dresses for little girls

“Bippity Boppity Boo!” – Cinderella

Walmart is going all out to help celebrate this great re-release of Cinderella – You’ll find amazing displays around the store, filled with new toys, dresses and accessories, and even a super clever pumpkin display in the produce section. Love it. If you head down to check it out – make sure to visit your store’s Halloween section too – there’s where I found the majority of the dress up gear. The regular kids section had a limited selection, but is filled with the prettiest new toys and playsets for little girls…

cinderella toys

“If you keep on believing, the dreams that you wish will come true.” – Cinderella

I love that there is a whole section in the kids toy department devoted just to Cinderella. There are big displays and great signage… It just makes it all feel a little more “special” – more magical. {That must be the little girl in me talking….} And you’ll also find more than just Cinderella, there are also great sets featuring the other princesses. I mean, every princess needs some girls to pal around with, right? {You can see more of the selection in my Cinderella shopping trip on Google+, or visit the Disney Princess page on Walmart.com.}

Cinderella party supplies

“Cinderelly, Cinderelly – Night and day it’s Cinderelly!” – Cinderella

Remember I told you that we’re also going to be hosting a movie party too? Well, that of course means that I needed to stock up on party supplies. And Walmart did not let me down – they have a huge selection of Cinderella party gear too! We stocked up on favors, plates and napkins, and those cute reusable cups that are less than a buck a piece. I also saw a big Disney Princess castle pinata, that I’m really debating going back for.

Cinderella Disney Princess event at Walmart

Disney Princess Retailtainment Event at a Walmart Near You!

Ok – this is the awesome in-store event that I mentioned. I seriously think it is going to be a blast – On October 6, between 11-3, select Walmart stores across the country are inviting Cinderella lovers of all ages to visit the store for an afternoon of fun. Dress as your favorite Disney princess {Abby will be wearing her new dress and accessories!} and join them for pumpkin decorating, coloring sheets, games, and other interactive activities. Abby is going to LOVE seeing all of the other little girls dressed up too. And make sure to download the new Disney Princess Royal Ball app – for iPhone or get the Android version here. This wasn’t live yet when we shopped – but it is now. Use it to scan the Augmented Reality markers on Disney Princess items around the store to access tons of cool stuff. You’ll love it!

cinderella shopping spree

“One shoe can change your life.” – Cinderella

Stocked up and ready to plan our party! I can’t wait to share pics with you guys soon – You can keep an eye on Twitter for hashtag #DisneyPrincessWMT – That’s where I’ll be sharing photos on the 6th of Abby partying in her dress during the in-store event. And then I’ll get to work on gathering up all of my creative ideas for the party – We’re also going to be inviting some little Princes too, so I need to get some boy goodie bags put together. Stay tuned – in a few weeks I’ll share party pics with you… Think cupcakes and candy and lots of sparkles. Ahhh…. All of my favorite things!

Follow Disney on Twitter, and Cinderella and the other Disney Princesses on Facebook – to stay updated on new products and promotions!

Tell me – will you be visiting Walmart for the Disney Princess Party? Who’s your favorite princess?
