I shopped savvy using Walmart Saving Catcher, as part of a sponsored post for Socialstars #SavingsCatcher. Sharing because I love this, and I know you will too!
I used to be a pretty serious couponer. I wasn’t ever one who could pull off the Extreme Coupon style trips, where you pay less than a buck for a cart of groceries {although I have friends who can do that!} But I regularly saved 40% or more on my shopping trip by matching sales and clipping coupons. But, as life has gotten more hectic {kids, my online business, expanding that business, etc} I have less time to devote to things. I still use coupons EVERY time I shop. I’m a big believer in using every avenue available to earn extra money – survey sites, freelance writing, cash back sites, and more. {See my most popular post of all time – Ways to Earn Money From Home – for more tips.} Which is all leading up to me telling you about THE coolest new idea for saving money/earning free money that I’ve found in a LONG time! Check it out…

So, let me tell you about this cool new app and website. It’s from Walmart, and it’s called Savings Catcher. And here’s why it rocks – it guarantees that you get THE best prices on everything you buy, without having to price match the ads, or run to a million different stores. You simply enter the info from your receipt into your app, or log into the Savings Catcher website when you get home. It takes a couple of days to search all of your local stores – then refunds if any of the products you bought were cheaper at any of those stores! Super cool, right? See it in action here:

Walmart is so confident that they have the lowest prices around, that they’re willing to PAY you when they don’t. They already price-matched other competitors ads, but now you don’t have to do any work at all! The app does it all for you – and you save time by not having to shop around, and money by knowing you’re guaranteed the lowest prices. Let me show you a couple of my shopping trips to give you an idea of how it all works.
First trip, I stocked up on some grocery items. The Savings Catcher app will work for most of your food purchases – even things like fresh fruit and veggies. Unbranded items won’t apply – since there’s no way for them to match them to other stores. Same thing with deli or bakery items, since those are exclusive just to their own stores. Check out this link to see exactly what is and isn’t eligible: https://savingscatcher.walmart.com/faq#faqs-matching. But honestly, the majority of the items I purchase are eligible.
My other trip was to stock up on some fun goodies for my upcoming office makeover. This is a good example of what is and isn’t eligible – things like the Elmers glue products and Sharpie markers ARE eligible for price matching – but other items like the Walmart brand frame or ribbon wouldn’t be, since there’s no way to match them. Which totally is fair and makes sense. {FYI: I bought WAY more than this, and can’t wait to start showing you some of the projects I’ve been working on to redo my new office/craft room space!}
So then after each shopping trip, I came home and entered my barcode onto the Savings Catcher site. {The app is super cool and convenient – but my iPhone is having issues and needs the IOS updated before I can add a new app. Working on it this week :)} It took me less than 5 minutes to get set up and enter my info. Then, like I mentioned, it takes 2-3 days for the app to scour all of your local stores to find your savings. I was impressed that it didn’t just look at grocery stores – it also searched prices at stores like Target and Shopko too.

And…. the results! From 3 receipts, each around $50-$75 bucks, I earned back $7.65 in cash back using the Savings Catcher app. How cool is that, right? That’s just from one week of shopping. I can totally see how this would add up over time! And really – if you enter a receipt and get NO cash back, no loss. That still means you got the lowest prices possible! So, still a total win :) You can cash out your rewards right away, or save ’em up for big occasions {I’m saving mine for Christmas shopping!} Whenever you’re ready, you can move them to a Walmart e-Gift card, which you can use online or in-store.
Seriously, this is SO cool.

I love Savings Catcher! We’ve only gotten back about six dollars so far but it’s awesome knowing there’s a chance I’ll save more.
