Spring isn’t totally here yet, but it’s peeking around the corner. We’re still having more rain than shine here in the PNW, but we’re finally seeing some sunshine here and there! Which totally puts me in the mood to freshen up my wardrobe. I do tend to wear mostly black, white, grey, and very dark grey. 10 Fun Fashion Pieces with Pockets!

When it comes to fashion, I’m all about comfort. Even when dolled up, things MUST be comfy. There’s only one time I’ve ever purchased a pair of shoes that weren’t comfortable – and they did NOT last. Tossed ’em the first time I wore them to work, back in my 20’s when I worked at Macy’s. Left them in the break room with a “free, take me” sign, and bought a pair of flats to finish the day. I’ve been known to ditch a pair of ill-fitting undies too, and go without for the rest of the night. You can’t look good if you don’t feel good – at least I can’t. So, with all of that said, I’m sure it’s no surprise that I am a total junkie for fashion with pockets. All the pockets.

I’m a Hot Mess Mom, What Are You?

You guys. I still owe ya’all a post of explanation, of where I was for all of 2016. Life-changing health diagnosis, heart-breaking break up with my daughter’s dad, huge budget-tightening with not working = tough times. I’m a strong cookie though, and am bouncing back, slowly. Mommin’ is a tough gig on the best of days, and in my days now there’s so much adjustment trying to balance new changes and challenges. So, yes, I’m a hot mess. A hot mess mom. And I’m not a bit ashamed about that.

That photo pretty much sums it up, lol. The look on my face, trying, again, to take selfies with this giant iPad because I’m too broke to upgrade to a new phone with internet access. And, that cheap phone? You can see it. In my shirt, tucked into my bra. Because I had leggings on, no pockets, and totally forgot that it was in there. When I said I’m a hot mess I wasn’t kidding you guys. :) Trying to find one.small.space to with a clean background, as we’re working on remodeling, reorganizing, and redecorating the whole house – on an incredibly teensy budget. If you look closely {but please don’t} you’ll see many new silvery streaks trying to invade my brown hair. And my shirt – Hot Mess, Just doing my best. That’s me. [Read more…]

Thankful for Food, Family, and FASHION!

This year has been, hands down, the absolute hardest year I’ve ever been through in my life. A break-up with Abby’s dad after 11 years together. Major life-changing health stuff. And all of the financial, personal, organizational, etc issues that go along with those things. Sigh. But, things are calming down – the waves have stopped crashing, and my boat is finally steadying itself a bit.

This year has taught me that life is more unpredictable than you can imagine. That the world hands out heartbreak easily – like tossing candy in a parade. That time is short and never guaranteed – your own, and the time you get with those you love. So I have grown quite impatient with the bullshittery, and worrying what others think (which I’ve always let bother me too much.) My plan now is to seek happiness wherever I can, hold it tightly when I find it, and give no worry to what others think about things. And in this month of giving thanks, I’m definitely counting my blessings every darn day, grateful to still be here :)

The Perfect Boots for Fall

Ah…. Fall. Here in central Washington, fall is fully upon us. My neighborhood is filled with a ton of different types of trees, so the colors of all of the different changing leaves is just gorgeous. The air is crisp enough for sweaters and hoodies, but there’s still usually enough sunshine that all of my fall flowers in the gardens are still blooming. The wineries are gorgeous this time of year, and since central Washington is the apple capital of the world, it’s a wonderful time to visit the farmer’s markets for fresh produce. This is my favorite time of year. And when it comes to fall fashion, my very favorite change from summer is getting new fall boots!
