How to create a memorable Family Movie Night…. A night at home, snuggled up on the couch together, enjoying a fab flick – that can be one of the best family nights ever, right? Movie night is a budget-friendly choice for weekend entertainment – It involves very minimal prep, and can be adjusted in a million ways, to make uniquely perfect for each family. So – keep reading to get a few of my best tips on creating a DIY movie night on a budget.
Getting #RedCarpetReady for our Oscar viewing party…. Ok, by now you ladies know that I love any reason to have a party. I also love sparkles and glitter and glam. So – what more perfect excuse for a party than the biggest red carpet event of the year – the Oscars. Just like my Mister can stretch out a football game into a full day event, I can make a great awards show like the Oscars into a full-on party, all evening and into the night! Let me share some of the fun ideas I’m working on, so you can use some of them too.
“Somewhere over the rainbow, bluebirds fly….” – Am I the only one who can’t even just read those words – I sing them in my head. The Wizard of Oz was one of my absolute favorite movies as a little girl – and it’s still, to this day, one of my all time most loved films. Looking for cheap kids movies? Well – you’ve come to the right spot, ladies. There is a HUGE selection of cheap kids DVD’s on Amazon right now – I found 14 movies all under $5 bucks each, and I guarantee you that there are more. And these aren’t those weird – “Dora’s Holiday Special from 1999” type of movies. These are good ones. Most are newer, a couple are from my childhood, and all are awesome. And for less than $70 bucks, you could actually buy ALL 14 if you wanted to! Sweet deal, right?
OZ THE GREAT AND POWERFUL… Was anyone else a major fan of The Wizard of Oz when they were a little girl too? It seems like it was my first “serious” movie – The drama of it all, the witch that scared me all to heck, the love that Dorothy felt for her family back at home. And it’s such a perfect coming of age style story – the journey to realizing that what really matters in life was there all along, you just didn’t take the time to notice it. This is still one of my all-time favorite films. So I’m very, very, VERY eager to see the new take on my favorite story… Coming in March of 2013, watch for the release of Oz the Great and Powerful!
I’ve mentioned to you guys how excited I am about Wreck-It Ralph coming to theaters this Friday, right? WRECK-IT RALPH smashes into theatres everywhere this Friday, November 2nd! I’m sure I’m not the only one who’s super excited, right? I’m definitely not conservative about things, but often have trouble finding kids movies that are right for my little one – that have good messages, are fun enough to engage them, and keep things kid-friendly the whole time. {Read a few of my thoughts on why the theme in this movie is inspiring for moms too!} Well, after talking to quite a few bloggy buddies who had the chance to sneak-peek this movie, and watching the adorable previews, I’m convinced that this is going to be another great Disney film I can feel good showing to my little girl!
