Starting the Weight Loss Journey…

Summer is coming, and I still have way too much of this “Baby Baggage” left over from being pregnant last summer…

It’s tough because, well, honestly, diet and exercise just aren’t my thing.

I like cupcakes. I like a glass of wine. I love to cook tacos, and bbq hot dogs, and eat tater tots.

Problem is, I kind of look like a tater tot. Which is not a good look.

I’m on a mission to lose about 20 pounds. Summer is coming, and our new house has a really awesome in-ground pool. And I don’t want to spend money on a new swim suit. So it’s time to get movin’.

I signed up today for the Jillian Michaels Free Trial, for a FREE 7 days of the program. Worth a shot, right?

You have to enter your credit card info to sign up, and if you love it and want to stick with it, they’ll charge you $4 bucks a week to continue. Not bad at all, right? Plus, I think that spending the money, even though it’s only a tiny amount, will help me to take it seriously. And if you don’t like it, you just cancel before the 7 days are up. I put a note on my calendar for day 6, so I can decide to cancel or keep going.

Read a little more:

Three Reasons My Program Works
1. My Experience
I’ve been helping people lose weight for 18 years. And I’ve struggled with my own weight issues. Trust me, I know what works.
2. No Gym Required
You pick when and where you want to work out. You’ll get all the tools, support, and motivation you need from my customized online program.
3. It’s Customized
Based on your body type, fitness level, and goals – you’ll get a customized weight loss program designed for maximum results.

I had looked into quite a few programs in the past, and you might remember some of my other posts asking for advice. While I think that the Weight Watchers program is pretty awesome, and know people who have used it successfully, it just cost way too much for me.

So, I’m going to at least try this out. Nothing to lose, right? Well, except the size of my hips :) If any of you guys are interested in joining too, or are already members, I’d LOVE to hear it!

If there are a few of you that join, I’d like to hear your stories, and share them in some posts, to help keep everyone motivated!

So let me know in the comments:

  • Are you already a member? What do you think of the program?
  • Have you used this program in the past? How did it work? Any tips?
  • Or, did you join today? What are your weight loss goals? What is your biggest challenge?

I really do eat pretty healthy, and am moderately active since I’m chasing a baby and a 4 year old all day. But I definitely need a jumpstart to help me on the way to my goals! I’m excited to give this a try…

3 Ways to Get in Shape on a Budget

I got these tips today from LearnVest, a daily newsletter filled with fun and frugal tips. It’s one of my favorites…

My New Goal Inspired by these Tips!

These are three {super easy} ways to get yourself in shape without wasting time or money. I’ve been working on getting our days on more of a schedule lately…. I’m a new stay at home mom, and also take care of my two nephews. Plus, we’re all living in this big new house, with lots of projects that need to be done. PLUS, I decided to take on a new project for myself and started this blog a couple months ago. PLUS, I’m an online student too! Woah. So not a lot of time to get everything done!

And, I’ve been wanting to lose that last big of baby weight, since our new home here has a really great in-ground pool. So, my new goal that I made today after reading these tips, is to combine my housework with my workout, and do it all in one hour each day!

That means, for one hour, I will clean this house so dang fast… Like, Batman fast. Just vacuuming the whole place once a day is a workout in itself! Plus, I’ll get the kids to help… We ‘ll put the music on loud, and wash windows, put away toys, dust, swiffer, and take out trash. Good times, right?

I really feel like doing this is going to be a great sanity-saver too. I won’t be always worrying about cleaning the house, because I know I’ll get it mostly done (and “good enough” is how we do it around here!) each day during that one hour. After that, I’ll stop worrying about it :)

So read on for the tips from LearnVest and see if they can help you make a new goal too!

Spring-Clean Year Round.

No reason to pay for a cleaning service when mopping and vacuuming could work off that extra serving of pasta from dinner. Turn up the volume on your iPod to get some pump-up favorites going as you choose a project to tackle, like reorganizing the junk closet or scrubbing down the bathroom. Take a few trips to the trash and recycling bins to maximize your movement, and remember that running up and down the stairs is actually a good thing.

Go Outside.

If you’re an avid gardener, you already know about the hard work involved in outdoor upkeep. Otherwise, try planting and maintaining a garden (think trundling around with flower pots and squatting to pluck weeds), which gives you the added benefits of fresh flowers or fresh food. Experts have already proved that spending time outside your four walls can improve your mood, lower stress, and boost energy. If you do have outdoor acreage to maintain try mowing, raking, shoveling, trimming, and pruning it yourself.

Do Just A Little Extra.

Instead of starting to do something you hate (your laundry), try adding exercise potential to things you already do. If you like being in the kitchen anyway, knead and roll your own dough instead of getting the pre-made quick fix. For the busy woman always fielding phone calls, walk or lunge as you talk instead of taking it easy. Make the bed instead of leaving it sloppy. And if you do love laundry, dance around as you hang up your fresh items.

Great stuff, right?

Most of you know that I’m on a mission to lose about 25 pounds, the last of the “Baby Baggage” still left on my hips from last summer. I’ve been looking at a few different diet plans, just to kinda give me a jump start, you can see the three I’m thinking about in this post.

{Hey Mommas!} Which Diet Plan Works For You?

I had my first baby, a little girl, last July. I ate really healthy, and did Yoga through most of my pregnancy, but managed to gain over 60 pounds while I was pregnant! Wooo.

I lost a lot of weight really quickly in the first two months… Probably because my little one took so much work, and I was so sleep deprived, that I nearly forgot to eat! And I know everyone says, “It takes 9 months to gain the weight, give it 9 months to take it back off.” Ok, fair enough.

Problem is, my little one is now 8 1/2 months old…. And momma still has about 20 extra baby-baggage pounds on her hips!! So, I’ve never used a diet plan before, and I eat pretty healthy, but I think I need to up my game here. Our new house has a pool, summer is coming, and I need to be ready :)

I’m really familiar with Weight Watchers, but not so much some of the others. Here are a few I’m thinking about, and I’d love it if you guys could give me your opinion if you’ve used them. I found all of these on some deal sites, with really great promotions, so I added the info too in case any of you ladies is looking for a new plan too.

Here are some of the options:

I am amazed at how hot Suzanne Somers still looks, so I suppose that is part of what drew me to this one, lol. This is what you get:

“100s of recipes, Calorie Calculators, Weight Tracker, Personal Journal, and more. Start Losing Today! Your first 7 days are FREE! Just $4/week after that.”

I’m a big fan of her show, and think that this might be a plan that I could stick with. I also like the fact that she used to have weight issues too, so maybe she is a bit more realistic. The Jillian Michaels plan says:

“You’ll get all the tools, support, and motivation you need from my customized online program. It’s Customized based on your body type, fitness level, and goals – you’ll get a customized weight loss program designed for maximum results. Your first 7 days are FREE! Just $4/week after that.”

I’ve heard a lot of really great things about The South Beach Diet from my friends who have used it. It sounds really fresh and healthy, which I love. Here are the details on this one:

“Get your own customized Meal Plan Tools to track your weight, phase, and diet goals 24 hour online support and community WEIGHT LOSS RESULTS! Your first 7 days are FREE! Just $4/week after that. “

So, now how to decide??

As you can see, the prices are the same for each one, so that doesn’t help me narrow it down! :) I’d love to hear from you guys… Have you used any of them? Or are any of you planning to get started with one of these diets?

Maybe if a lot of you are using the same plan, I can go with that one, and can do a set of posts with everyone’s experiences, to help keep us all motivated?? I’d love to hear some weight loss stories to help keep ME motivated, thats for sure. You know how hard it can be to focus on yourself after you have a baby demanding loads of attention :)

Also, if you have any other suggestions, or tips, or, well, anything you think will help me get my old pre-baby booty back in time for summer, leave me some comments!!!
