How to Build a Better Smile – #CrestSponsored

Kids smiling

Keeping Kids Smiles Bright!

About a month ago, I told you guys about a new challenge we were doing – We started following the  Crest and Oral-B Pro-Health Clinical Plaque Control regimen, where we’d try out some of the new products, and build some better brushing habits in our house. Well, I can tell ya – the kids and I loved every single product we tried out. And we are definitely switching to this floss – we were all really impressed with how easy the Glide floss is to use.

How to Build a Better Smile

I love seeing those great big grins on the kiddo’s faces – so it’s totally important to me to protect them from yucky stuff like cavities and stains. The video above shares some great info – and here are a few tips we use at my house:

  • Make sure that everyone has a good routine – brushing, flossing, and rinsing both morning and night. {A fun way to make sure kids brush long enough is to get the Twooth Timer, a cute little gadget that has made my life SO much easier!}
  • Use the best products. The Pro-Health line from Crest and Oral-B is awesome because most of the products do double duty – cleaning, whitening, and even protecting!
  • Brush smart: You should brush for about 2 minutes, twice a day. Harder is NOT better – that can lead to over-sensitive teeth. Use a rinse with fluoride – swish about 2 teaspoons full in your mouth for 1 minute, twice a day. And remember to change to a new toothbrush every 3 months. {We write the date on the handle when we purchase new ones!}

There are also some great books to get little ones excited about brushing time, like Brush Your Teeth Please Pop-Up Book. Abby loved that one, and she thinks that brushing her teeth is so cool that she steals the other toothbrushes out of the cabinet and walks around the house brushing with them. {That means I’ve been buying everyone a lot of new toothbrushes lately, lol.} So – get your family motivated to do a Pro-Health Challenge too! Pick up the products at your local drugstore or Walmart, and see how well they all work together – it’s an awesome little system. And build brighter smiles for your family this year too!

Crest & Oral-B Brighten Smiles with a Trip to London 2012 Olympic Games!

Keeping my families smiles bright!

I’m working on a new challenge with my family – Because you know I LOVE taking on new challenges! It’s called the Crest and Oral-B Pro-Health Clinical Plaque Control Test Drive Program – and the goal is to develop new healthy habits, and keep those awesome smiles on my families faces shining and bright.

Why this is important to me

We don’t have any health insurance right now – which of course, means no dental insurance either. That makes our brushing routines even more important, since we don’t have a dentist to go to for check-ups. I know that there are thousands of other moms out there reading this, who are trying to get by without dental insurance too – so I hope that the tips and tools in this system can help you too!

Yucky plaque – don’t come back!

For this challenge, we’re using the new Crest Pro-Health Clinical Line from Crest & Oral-B. Their site states that, “When used together, these products not only significantly reduce plaque, they’re also clinically proven to help keep plaque from coming back.” Since plaque is a big player in causing tooth decay and gum disease, this is super important! The products form a full system – toothpaste and brushes, floss and rinse – so it’s easy to know exactly what to buy, and you can rest easy knowing you’re doing the best you can to keep your family’s smiles healthy.

Getting started with the Challenge

We’re test driving all of these great products right now – and I’ll update you soon with more info on what we all thought of them. If you want to try them too, get some great money-saving coupons from Crest to help you stock up these awesome products, or check out Coupons.com for the latest toothpaste coupons too. A few tips to maximize the results you’ll see with this system:

  1. Make sure to brush at least twice a day, for 3 minutes at a time. To help the kids brush long enough without you nagging, check out a really fun solution that works awesome in my house – the Twooth Timer.
  2. Get the kids used to flossing early on – and make it a daily habit. This is one of the biggest areas that people neglect, and is a common hiding spot of cavities and decay.
  3. Use a great rinse. Not only does it lead to healthier teeth and gums, but if you use one like the Crest Pro-Health Clinical Rinse, you can kill 99% of germs which leads to ridiculously fresh breath.

So – check out the great products in the Crest Pro-Health Line, make sure to grab some of the great coupons available, and…. Get ready for a chance to take those great new brushing habits on the road, if your family are the lucky winners of the Pro-Health Clinical Olympic Games Sweepstakes!!

Win a Trip to London!!

Crest and Oral-B invite you to enter the Pro-Health Clinical Olympic Games Sweepstakes for the chance to win a trip to the London 2012 Olympic Games for your family, and also enter into a weekly drawing to receive the full product line. The sweepstakes begins on March 15th and will run through May 31st. {Feelin’ lucky? Make sure to enter to win all of the other awesome prizes that I’m giving away here this month, all listed in the sidebar.} Good luck!

New Campaign Supports Busy Moms & Healthy Families

Source: aubutfamily.com via Sunshine and on Pinterest

So true, right?

If you’ve read this site for very long, you know a few things about me – That since the day I found out that I was pregnant with Abby, I started on a journey to making my life cleaner & greener. That no matter how hard I tried, I was not able to lose the baby weight {or do I call it toddler weight now?} on my own – until I found the Nutrisystem plan. That a healthy lifestyle has become so much more important to me now that I’m the role model for another little person, who for whatever crazy reason, thinks that I’m the person to look up to. So, while I am FAR from perfect, I am proud of the fact that I am consistently making small changes that move me towards a better life. Like this quote says – No matter how slow I go, I’m doing better than all of those people who don’t even start. And to me, that’s what’s important – the journey!

“Take care of your body. It’s the only place you have to live.”  – Jim Rohn

If you’re like me, and doing your best to move towards a better, healthier, more exuberant way of living – You will probably be as excited as I am to hear about a really cool new campaign to help motivate families towards healthier lifestyles called Together Counts. I’ll let them tell you a little more about themselves –

“Together Counts is a nationwide program inspiring active and healthy living. The principle behind our program is Energy Balance, which means balancing the calories we consume with the calories we burn – {which is the smartest way you can live!} – It’s a first-of-its kind coalition that brings together more than 195 retailers, food and beverage manufacturers, restaurants, sporting goods and insurance companies, trade associations and non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and professional sports organizations.”

What I really love about this campaign is the focus on moderation. We all know that our lifestyles have room for improvement. {Ok, so there’s probably a 1% of you out there drinking a celery smoothie while doing Yoga with your toddler and not relating. But this is for the rest of you, lol} We are also all super busy Super Moms who are doing out best to juggle those crazy demands of life/kids/spouse/work/home – and that causes us to sometimes feed out kids chicken nuggets or mac and cheese from a box. That doesn’t make us bad moms, and advice that causes us to feel that way usually just gets ignored – for good reason. But no, this campaign is all about finding realistic ways to make positive changes to balance your family’s life. You will LOVE the tips, ideas, and resources you’ll find!

If you’re ready to get your family movin’ together, and eatin’ healthy more often, then join the party online!

There are tons of super fun ways that you can get involved in this great campaign, and they can provide you with loads of resources, tips, support – and even fun prizes! – to help you and your family get on a path to better living!

  1. Together Counts is holding a fun sweepstakes on their Facebook page   to celebrate their first anniversary. Prizes include gift cards, George Foreman Grills and a membership to Anytime Fitness. Super cool stuff for summertime!
  2. You can also follow Together Counts on Twitter for fun daily updates and tips, and find some AWESOME ideas on their Pinterest boards, like this super simple fruit palm tree that totally encourages kids in a fun way to try new foods!
  3. Join Together Counts as they celebrate Child Nutrition Month at a Twitter party on 4/3 from 8-9 PM EST. Prizes include $50 same-as-cash gift cards. For more information and to RSVP, visit ResourcefulMommy.com.

Now that you have some awesome tools to help you, you’re ready to make this summer a season of fun, fitness, and fantastic fresh foods. I’d love to hear your thoughts on this too – What are the biggest obstacles to your family in being healthy? What are your biggest successes? Do you have tips to share? I love hearing from you guys!

Nutrisystem: Wanna See My One-Month Weight-Loss Results?

nutrisystem week 4 results

One Month of Nutrisystem = 5 Pounds Lost!

Dang…. I absolutely HATE seeing myself on a scale – and seeing SUCH a high numbers! Never in my life would I have imagined that I’d weigh this much… But thankfully, I have the support system at Nutrisystem to keep me on track, and keep me motivated towards getting back to a number on the scale that I can be proud to share here with you guys.

My Goals for Nutrisystem

When I first was getting started with Nutrisystem, I took a full set of measurements, from thighs and hips to arms and chest, so that I could track my progress. The number on the scale is important – but my shape is what matters more, since it’s what determines whether I’ll get my booty back into those pre-baby jeans or not. Nutrisystem gives you a great online support system, filled with awesome tracking tools – so that’s where I added in my measurements and starting weight. I wanted to lose at least a pound or two per week, and hopefully see a measurable difference in my curves after the first month….

I Met all of my Weight Loss goals!

Woooo! While I would’ve loved to see a little more weight loss, I’m very happy with 5 pounds in 4 weeks. As long as I keep losing at least a pound a week, I’ll feel like I’m making progress. And – I lost about a half-inch on almost ALL of my measurements – waist, hips, chest, arms, and thighs. That was pretty exciting to see! I’ve been getting more activity in my day, but haven’t been doing any major exercise yet – so these results make me really happy.

What’s Next for me and Nutrisystem

This month, I’d love to really push myself harder to exercise, and lose 10 pounds. I admit to cheating a couple of times last month – and still lost 5 pounds. So, if I can avoid those things that test my willpower – {lunches out with friends, taco night with the kids} – for a few weeks, I know I can do it.

On a weight loss journey too? Check out my Weight Loss Board on Pinterest – It’s super funny, super motivating, and filled with super helpful stuff!

Want to lose weight and get healthy on Nutrisystem?

Join today by calling 1-888-853-4689 or by visiting Nutrisystem.com. It’s simple to get started, the foods are actually really good, with loads of variety. Heck – you even get to have chocolate cake or ice cream each night for dessert, how great is that? Get started today – it’s the best choice you’ll make this year!

{Disclaimer: I’m receiving a complimentary membership and access to all Nutrisystem products and services, to review here for you. All photos, opinions, and results here are 100% my own personal experience – and may vary for others.}

Kissaboos Make Boo Boos All Better

Kissaboo

“You know you’re a mother when the smallest wimper from your child can wake you from a dead sleep.” – Linda Poindexter

One of the most important jobs a momma has is to save the day when little ones get hurt. And if you have a toddler – you know that are constantly getting hurt. In my house, the enthusiasm for climbing, running, jumping, and discovering isn’t matched by the skill for all those fun activities, lol. So we get lots of bumps and boo boos, which can lead to lots of tears and pouting. Most moms learn really quickly that putting a fun band-aid on any type of ouch makes it better fast – whether that band-aid is actually needed or not. And that’s the same type of idea behind the Kissaboo – it’s a reusable, washable, adorable solution for boo boos, bug bites, bruises and more. Read on – you’ll love this product!

“A mom’s hug lasts long after she lets go.” – Author Unknown

A kiss from mom also makes things all better for most little ones injuries too – and there have even been studies that show that kissing your child’s boo boos may lead to better health. So when you combine the comfort of a band-aid and the love of some kisses into one product, you get the Kissaboo. It works great in SO many situations:

  1. To cover a band-aid, so little fingers don’t keep peeling it off.
  2. For bug-bites or other itchy spots, to keep kids from scratching too much.
  3. For all of those “invisable” owies that kids always want band-aids for.
  4. To keep trouble spots covered up – Like a bandaged up knee from a fall on a bike.
  5. To cover scary looking bumps or bruises.
  6. To keep an IV in safely, if kids are getting medical procedures. {Be sure to get the doctor’s ok on this.}
  7. To prevent thumb sucking.

And there are tons more ideas that you’ll think of once you start using these in your home. From my little girl, who is 19 months old – to my nephews, who are 5 and 8, these work perfectly in every situation.

“Being a full-time mother is one of the highest salaried jobs in my field, since the payment is pure love.” – Mildred B. Vermont

See? A Kissaboo cover makes any boo boo all better! The covers come in a package of three, so you get several options to fit any type of ouch that comes up. They’re washable, so that they can be used over and over – and that will save you loads of money, since you won’t have to waste so many band-aids on “invisible” owies. And – they’re totally adorable! See those little kisses on the cover? Love it. Want to check out more on the Kissaboo? Check out the adorable little guy over at Mallery’s Deals showing how a baby rocks the Kissaboo, then check out some great close-up product shots of the different covers included in the kit on Cinnamon Hollow.

Mompact baby safety products

Moms supporting Moms – Mompact.com!

No one cares more about keeping kids safe and healthy than a Mom does. So this week I’m very excited to share some of my favorite products that do just that!  Check out these great products invented by moms, read the stories behind them by visiting mompact.com, and enter to win ALL six products. How awesome is that?

Solutions to Make Kids Safer and Healthier

Ok, you know that I’m all about finding you the best sites, services, and products to solve your busy-mom challenges, right? That’s my goal with this site, to find Smart Solutions for Busy Moms to share with you each day. And some of my favorite solutions come from other moms – From you guys, from my family and best girlfriends, and from other women entrepreneurs who invent awesome products to fix common problems we all face. Check out a few of these great solutions here:

  1. Parking Pal: These are super cool magnets that you place on the car, to give kids a safe spot to stand while everyone gets out of the car – They’re fun enough to keep them occupied, and increase parking lot safety. My nephews love ’em.
  2. S.A.F.E.R Car Seat Cover: You don’t want to put kids in the same old dirty clothes each day, right? So why put them in the same germ-filled car seat for weeks at a time? This cover makes it quick and easy to keep a clean and safe seat for your little one to travel in.
  3. Gripsterz: This is one of my favorites! Abby is getting bigger, and is starting to push for more independence – but she’s still so little that she’s easy to lose track of. With the Gripsterz, I can hand her the handle, and ask her to hold the monkeys hand so she doesn’t get lost – then either hold the other end of the strap, or hook it to the car or stroller. She thinks it’s funny, I think it’s a lifesaver!
  4. Boogie Snatcher: Ok, I love the funny name. But I love the idea behind this even more – We all know how uncomfortable it is for little ones to get yucky, clogged up noses. But we also all know how difficult it can be to fix that. The Boogie Snatcher works much better than those little bulbs, and is perfect for cleaning tiny newborn noses.
  5. Sniffle Buddies: This is a great solution, especially for moms of kiddo’s with special needs. The Sniffle Buddies work to catch runny noses on little ones during playtime – instead of them using their hands to wipe ’em, spreading germs.
  6. Kissaboo: This is my favorite – it is such an adorable idea! It’s a reusable cover for boo boos, bug bites or itchy spots, or to keep kids from picking at bandages. It’s super cute, and comes with 3 different types of cover to fit any bumps, cuts, or bruises your kiddo gets. You know how every bump feels better just by putting a band-aid on it? This cute cover works the saaaaame way. {See it in action at our house here.}

All of these super smart ideas were invented by moms, for moms. You can find more amazing products like this on Mompact.com, find support and resources for your own mom-owned business there too – and then enter to WIN an awesome prize package filled with all of these great products!
