“You change your life by changing your heart.” – Max Lucado… This quote has always been one of my favorites, because I’m a big believer in the idea that life is what you make it – That changing attitudes and habits can really change your life. And, when it comes to the health of your heart, there are a lot of habits that you can change that will keep that heart beating long into the future.
“Everyone is the age of their heart.” – Guatemalan Proverb
My youngest brother was diagnosed with Aortic Stenosis when he was about 6. It’s an extremely serious disorder, and we were super lucky to have a great doctor who caught it early. He had to undergo surgeries every couple of years until he was in high school, when he was old enough to have it replaced during a full open heart surgery, at only 16 years old. Watching him go through all that really gave me an appreciation for how important your heart health is – and what happens when it’s not healthy. And I’ve seen the other end of the spectrum too – when people don’t take care of their health or their hearts, and suffer major problems as they age.
