“Life is not merely being alive, but being well.” – Marcus Valerius Martialis… Most of you know now about the weight loss mission that I’m on right now. If not – here’s a quick “catch up” for ya – I’ve always been a normal weight, and never gave it too much though, until I got pregnant – and gained over 70 pounds! Yikes. I struggled for a year to take it off, then lost over 20 pounds in 3 months, using the Nutrisystem diet. But then over the end of last year, I really slacked off again. My online businesses really took off, Abby started having her seizures {she’s doing GREAT now, if you’re wondering :)}, and, well, I love baking at the holidays. But, we have a big in-ground pool that we open up in late June, and I want to be ready to party this year without hiding under a tee shirt all summer! So, I’m working on making some smart changes – one small step at a time.
“Is buffalo chicken when the dad is a buffalo, and the mom is a chicken? That must be a biiiiig egg…” – My 6 year old nephew, while helping me make these super delicious Buffalo Chicken and Ranch Wraps. Kids are so awesome. And… Know what else is awesome? We’ve been together for over 7 years now. We’ve lived together, adopted a dog together, and together are the lucky parents of the most amazing little girl I’ve ever met. We’ve had more than our share of ups and down – but somehow, through it all, there are still a million little reasons that make him perfect for me. {I know, I know…. The only reason I love the Super Bowl is the awesome food, spending time with awesome friends and family, and watching awesomely funny Super Bowl commercials. {What? There’s a football game going on during this awesome party? Lol.} I wasn’t really blown away by the commercials this year – I wondered at some of them, “You spent millions to get this commercial played, and THIS is all you could come up with?} – but there were a few that I loved. The Budweiser Clydesdales are always a fave – don’t tell me you didn’t tear up just a little? The God Made a Farmer one was really powerful, although I was bummed at the end that it was just for a truck. And… I absolutely over-the-top love both Best Buy AND Amy Poehler, so of course their ad was a favorite too. Check it out…
“Once you learn to read, you will be forever free.” – Frederick Douglass… I have always loved to read. I get that from my parents, who are both big-time book lovers. They both read to me regularly when I was a little girl, I grew up watching them read books each night, listened to them discuss their favorite books at dinner time, and was surrounded by ever-changing selections of books to choose from as I got old enough to read them myself. The love of reading is seriously one of the best gifts you can give your children… It expands their world, encourages creativity, tolerance, and inquisitiveness, and gives them the best learning tool you can have.
