These cupcakes were as fun as a barrel of monkeys… Well, that’s probably because they were a tray of monkeys, almost the same thing :) I threw a big double birthday party earlier this summer for the kiddos – my little girl turned 3, and we did a DIY Disney Princess party for her and the little girls, then I created a jungle-themed birthday party for the little boys. {Although of course there was lots of overlap – kids love everything.} I’m just finally getting a chance to show a few of the fun things we did for the jungle theme – so to start, I’ll show you how to make super easy peasy monkey cupcakes. They’re so simple and quick that you can you make them any time – parties, lunches, weeknight desserts – whatever!
This past week, magic happened in my bedroom… Something happened that totally knocked my socks off, blew me away, gave me feelings I’d never had before. But, I have always kind of loved cleaning. No…. Not that I always love the process. Given the choice, I’d of course prefer a day by the pool, relaxing in the sun with a margarita. But since real life doesn’t work that way, and I have a serious case of OCD, I’m a cleaning junkie. And I must admit – I love the end result. Much like a carpenter probably doesn’t totally love swinging a hammer, but is a sucker for a brand new cabinet that he’s built by hand – well, I love seeing how a well thought out to-do list that’s all crossed off can make a house a real home again :) Which is why Dyson is one of my all-time favorite brands. Well – it sucks. Not in a bad way though. Not like, “I brought you home last night on a whim, and now I regret it..” No, like, it sucks all of the yucky stuff out of your life. Maybe not your whole life – but the life that needs to be sucked away – Dirt in the carpet, in the crevices of your tile floor, on your wood or laminate floors, your ceilings, drapes, carpets, rugs, bedding, cabinets, and more. I had wanted to film a video for this myself, but with all of the remodeling we’re doing this week, I don’t have many clean spots to even take a photo – let alone a video! Ahhhhh….. That’s another line that is just music to my mommy-ears. So by now you’re like – “Ok Meagan, you’ve totally talked this guy up. But is he just a pretty face? Does he have any substance to back it up or what?” Yes ladies, I know how sceptical we all are of new men, er, I mean household gadgets and appliances. You know, they make big promises… “I’ll be here for you long term, I’m super dependable, I’ll look and perform exactly like I do today for the next 20 years….” But we all know those lofty claims from pretty faces aren’t always true. But, Dyson delivers, ladies. Let me count the ways…

I donate regularly to support the amazing work that Heifer International does for families and communities around the world. I’m excited to have recently been chosen as a year-long ambassador for one of my favorite charities supporting US families – and can’t wait to announce who that is very soon. And, I give back to my own local communities… Food drives, helping with our local Eagles club kids events, and other events. It doesn’t matter how little time you have, or how small your budget or resources are – everyone has something they can do to make their world around them a little brighter. So, with back to school season here, I was incredibly excited to join an awesome #payitforward event, and fill a backpack up with some fun supplies for a kiddo in need.
“It is a happy talent to know how to play.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson… I’m in the process of totally overhauling our house. From painting, trim, and new doors throughout the house, to new flooring and fixtures. And as those rooms get jazzed up, they’ll need new furnishings and accessories too. Plus, a few of our rooms are changing their function… My brother and my 2 nephews used to live with me, but moved out last year. So, we changed gears on some of the projects we’d been planning, to take advantage of the extra rooms we’d have to play with. I was originally working on a master bedroom makeover – since Abby still shared a room with us and needed space to play, and my office was in there too. But now, we have a whole room to convert into a playroom filled with color and whimsy – and I cannot wait to get it finished up! Until then, I wanted to share some of the coolest ideas, inspiration, and product picks that I’ve come across while putting this all together, so maybe you can find something perfect for your little one too…
