So… Some of you know a bit about my major life changes this year. A break-up after 11 years. Life changing health diagnoses. I’ve been out of work all year, until just recently. So, I’ve been sorta living in sweats, leggings, pjs…. The health stuff has caused some big changes too – I lost almost 70 pounds. I’ve thankfully gained 25-30 back {first time I’ve ever celebrated gaining weight!} But my body is all oddly proportioned now. Different than it was. And it fluctuates, since I have ascites, which causes big-time fluid build-up in my belly. So my clothes don’t always fit right. What does this have to do with fall fashion? Well… I want to introduce you guys to an awesome new piece that is a must-have in everyone’s closet. If this Remi Swing Dress from Cents of Style can work for me, I can guarantee that it will work for anyone! :) It seriously looks great on EVERY body type, coming in sizes from  Small – 3X, and you have your choice of 17 amazing colors, from basic neutrals to beautiful jewel tones for fall and into the holidays. The Perfect Boots for Fall

I was compensated to create this post as part of the Earth Footwear #WalkYourWorld Campaign. The opinions are my own and based on my own experience, as always.

Ah…. Fall. Here in central Washington, fall is fully upon us. My neighborhood is filled with a ton of different types of trees, so the colors of all of the different changing leaves is just gorgeous. The air is crisp enough for sweaters and hoodies, but there’s still usually enough sunshine that all of my fall flowers in the gardens are still blooming. The wineries are gorgeous this time of year, and since central Washington is the apple capital of the world, it’s a wonderful time to visit the farmer’s markets for fresh produce. This is my favorite time of year. And when it comes to fall fashion, my very favorite change from summer is getting new fall boots!

Fashion Friday: Special Flash Sale Event!!

Who loves fashion? No, I don’t mean, “NYC Fashion Week, totally unrelatable to real-life fashion.” Stuff that real women wear. As a work at home mom, one of the best things that ever happened to me was when leggings became cool again. They’re like, sweatpants trendier cousin. You still get an elastic waistband for comfort, but they’re more acceptable in public. Same with yoga pants. I LIVE in stretch pants, long tanks or tunics, and cardigans. With lots of fun, funky accessories. Because even the simplest outfit can be worn a few times a week {come on, you know you’ve done it, lol} when you change up your accessories. And when they’re crazy-amazingly affordable, {I call that cramazingly….} it’s even better. So check out the flash deals available ONLY tomorrow, from one of my fave sites, Cents of Style.

Cents of Style Flash Friday

Starting tomorrow this morning, right now, there’s a HUGE flash sale on all of the awesome accessories at Cents of Style. There’s a new flash sale every few hours, or until they sell out. Plus, keep reading, because there’s a BONUS gift with purchase too! [Read more…]

Why My Daughter Will Never Be a Supermodel

Yesterday, I tried to get my little one, Abby, to pose a bit in a new outfit we had, so I could get some photos for the blog. It was an adorable lace romper from SquirrelCheeks.com that was sent to us a while ago, that we’re just finally getting a chance to try out. The outfit is seriously cute. Abby is seriously cute. But unfortunately, my photos are not seriously cute, lol.

kids being silly

This is my nephew with Abby. I said, “leave her alone for a few minutes bud, so I can get some pics of her in her new outfit. Then you guys can play.” He said, “But what IF….. we pose together and be AWESOME?” Lol. Lots of silly faces appeared, quite quickly.

kids pretending to be sharks

Next they pretended to be sharks. The hands above their head are their fins. You should have heard the sounds they think a shark makes as it swims though a kitchen…

Abby and Cole tiger

After that, they were tigers. ROARing all over the place. Silly kiddos.

Uncle Jamie and Abby

Then, in the middle of the madness, Uncle Jamie {my brother} shows up. Abby LOVES her Uncle Jamie. They got a little bit of snuggle time in.

Kissing Uncle Jamie

And she had to give him a big ol’ kiss before he left, of course. :) {I know a lot of ladies who are very jealous right now. Ladies love cool James, lol.}

So – while I didn’t end up with a “model worthy” photo for this outfit, my little lady had a great time, and so did the rest of us. And that’s what matters. And, I’m able to share an UH-MAY-ZING brand with you…. Squirrel Cheeks has so many awesome outfits and accessories, at seriously ridiculously inexpensive prices. I have no clue how she does it and keeps the prices so low. But what I do know, is that I love it :)

How to Travel Fashionably Light

I’m super excited to have received a complimentary item from Karina Dresses – I know you’ll fall in love with them as much as I have!

“The woman who follows the crowd will usually go no further than the crowd. The woman who walks alone is likely to find herself in places no one has ever been before.”… Albert Einstein. I love this quote, and I think it’s perfect for the post I’m writing here today. Until a few years ago, I hadn’t led an especially exciting life. I started working in retail at 15, moved up the ladder into management and fashion merchandising – then into some other sales positions. I worked hard, played hard, and was content enough. But things felt so….. Ordinary. Then – things changed dramatically in just a few short months. Suddenly I found myself with a new baby, a full time college course load, unemployed, then jumping into the world of working for myself, online. But all that craziness was worth it – I now have so much more independence. I get to travel all over the country, see new places, meet new people. Before blogging, I’d only flown on a plane twice. Now it’s surprising to fly only twice in a month sometimes.

Karina Dresses - Be a Frockstar!

So – I’ve learned a thing or two about traveling light. And, along the way, I’ve also learned a thing or two about confidence. And Karina Dresses is totally related to both of those! Karina Dresses believes that everyone woman is a Frockstar – meaning that, we should all own our life. Be confident in our body, no matter what shape – while also finding the beauty in everyone else too. That life is about celebrating all of our different roles, connecting with others and the world, and valuing quality – whether that’s in a relationship, experience, or product that we purchase. Read the Frockstar Manifesto to learn more about their mission. And as you can see above – Karina Dresses definitely make ME feel confident!

Karina Penelope Dress with Pockets

The dress I’m wearing is the Penelope, in Coral Dots {although it’s more pink than coral in person.} This was my first Karina Dress, and I really wasn’t sure about ordering it… If you look at my closet, it’s organized my “color” – black, gray, dark gray, denim, white, then a tiny section with a few colorful cardigans and tops. So wearing such a bright dress made me a little nervous. I wear black for a reason – what I used to call baby weight has just turned into permanent new curves that I’d rather hide. But Karina dresses are brilliant in the way they’re made, to flatter everyone’s figure. Check it out:

Finding your perfect fit in a dress

Karina Dresses has a dress for every-body! Check out their “Best Fit” section online for more detailed info, but here’s a basic idea:

Triangle ~ fuller hips, smaller top
Inverted Triangle ~ broader shoulders or fuller bust with smaller hips
Rectangle ~ hips, bust and waist are similar size
Oval ~ waist and bust are same size with smaller hips
Hourglass ~ curvaceous , full hips and bust

All dresses are made in the US too. And let me tell ya – these dresses are like magic. For reals. They’re made from a special microfiber fabric that you can machine wash, then just hang up to dry. And they never – never, ever, ever – need to be ironed. Which is why they’re perfect for travel. You could literally squish ’em up in a ball and throw one in your bag, and when you pull it out later to wear it is going to look like it’s brand new. And it holds up amazing to being worn and washed a million times. {I know this, because I wear this baby constantly.}

Plus, when I travel, especially to a blogging conference, I’m so crazy-busy I often am in the same outfit from 6am to 2am. I need something that’s comfy that let’s me move freely all day {and ohmyheck, the Penelope style has POCKETS. I’ve never had a dress with pockets.} Something that gets me through hours walking around in a crowded expo hall meeting brands….

Then more walking in the super humid heat in San Jose, for silly party photo opps. The fabric is super light and stretches with you, which was awesome. The easy cut and light pleats in the front hide everything you want hidden, while the neckline and waistband flatter the good parts. And yes, that’s another Karina Dresses that you see in the middle there too :)

And here’s the same dress, still going strong at midnight, while visiting all of the hotel suite parties with some bloggy best buddies. After 12 hours in the same dress, it’s still wrinkle-free, still feels comfy and fresh, and I got more compliments on this dress than any other that I’ve worn in years. I am now addicted, and must have more of these.

Adorable and Affordable Back to School Clothes for Kids

Thank you to OshKosh B’gosh and The Motherhood blogging network for letting me partner with them to share some awesome kids fall fashion with you!

Ok, I mentioned yesterday in my Top 10 Trends for Kids this Fall post that I am in love – in LOOOOOVE – with OshKosh B’gosh. I’ll be honest – they sent me a gift card to go and shop. Our closest store is at an outlet mall, 2 hours away. The last time I was there, I fell head over heels with everything they had. {You can see some outfits here, here, and a post here, and a video of our summer fashion fun here. Ohmyheck.} We couldn’t make it to the actual store this time, so I had to shop online. But, they make it so darn easy, and I love the way that they match up outfits for you, to give you ideas. They rock. My package of adorableness came the other day… Then we had crazy thunderstorms, and it took me a bit to be able to get pics to share. But seriously – check out the cuteness, and get your credit cards ready to shop :)
