So… Some of you know a bit about my major life changes this year. A break-up after 11 years. Life changing health diagnoses. I’ve been out of work all year, until just recently. So, I’ve been sorta living in sweats, leggings, pjs…. The health stuff has caused some big changes too – I lost almost 70 pounds. I’ve thankfully gained 25-30 back {first time I’ve ever celebrated gaining weight!} But my body is all oddly proportioned now. Different than it was. And it fluctuates, since I have ascites, which causes big-time fluid build-up in my belly. So my clothes don’t always fit right. What does this have to do with fall fashion? Well… I want to introduce you guys to an awesome new piece that is a must-have in everyone’s closet. This swing dress is great for so many reasons. It’s a perfect fabric, a blend of  95% rayon, with 5% spandex to give it a teensy bit of stretch for comfort. It’s just substantial enough to cover problem areas, but thin enough to add layers over or under. The arms are just slightly fitted, and unlike some swing dresses I’ve tried, it has some shape to it so you’re not just swimming in a big sack of fabric. It is honestly just as easy to throw on as a tee and leggings, just as comfy, but looks a lot more presentable for the days I’m attempting to be a grown-up and stuff. Or, I can jazz it up a bit – camo or plaid jacket for casual days, some pretty accessories and boots to dress it up, or a pretty scarf for some color on dreary fall days!

There are SO many ways to wear this swing dress. Obviously, it’s totally gorgeous and classy all on it’s own. It slips right on, isn’t see through in the slightest bit {a problem I have had with other dresses} so you can grab it and go. The dress comes in 17 colors, but if you want to add even more color, or if you choose a neutral like me, add some pizzazz with a bright scarf. And – accessories. No matter what size I wear, I can fit into my accessories. Right now I’m loving bracelets, specifically ones with quotes or messages on them. So I’m LOVING the Tribe Bracelets from Cents of Style.

There are so many that I liked: Brave, Bold, Fearless… But I chose this one, “Actually, I can.” I’m struggling to overcome a lot of challenges right now. I don’t exactly feel brave, or bold, or fearless. But the message, “actually, I can,” reminds me not to look at the big scary full picture right now. Focus on each obstacle, one day at a time, and remember than I CAN. Whatever it is, whatever it takes, I CAN do it. <3 And – as with anything in fashion – ignore the rules, and have fun! Add funky patterned rain boots that cheer you up on a dreary day, bracelets that make you smile, or a silly furry hat that makes your 6 year old daughter smile. Life is too short – wear what makes you feel good!
