Starlink: Battle for Atlas is THE Perfect Family Xbox Game!

I’m SO super excited to share the coolest new Xbox One family game with you guys – Starlink: Battle for Atlas! The reviewer has been compensated in the form of a Best Buy Gift Card and/or received the product/service. Keep reading to check it out…

As you can see, Abby gives this Starlink: Battle for Atlas Starter Kit an enthusiastic TWO THUMBS UP! We both seriously love it. You can save $25 on Starter Packs, plus, save 30% on Starlink toys, right now at Best Buy stores or online at BestBuy.com – Perfect for last minute Christmas shopping, or, for us – to stock up our own collection! Because that’s what makes this game so extra cool… It’s not just a traditional video game you pop in and play. It comes with “modular toy technology,” – meaning, actual physical toy pieces, mixing and matching your favorite ships and pilots, adding cool weapons specific to certain challenges, to constantly change up the way you play the game. So it never gets boring, and you can constantly expand game play!

Starlink: Battle for Atlas Ship

Isn’t this super cool?? Abby and I both expected the ships and accessories to be kinda cheap plastic pieces? So we were impressed when they were really substantial feeling, well-built, sturdy, just really cool. She displays them up on her shelf now ;) Here’s a little bit more about the game, in fancy gamer speak:

  • Battle for Atlas is an open-world space saga that features modular toy technology that allows players to assemble and customize real-world physical starships, link the starships to their game controller, and launch into an epic adventure across the Atlas star system, either in single player or with a friend in two-player split-screen local co-op.
  • Each modular component and pilot attached to the starship appears instantly in-game, allowing players to directly affect the course of their battle in a meaningful way.

So, a couple of cool things about this – if you have a kiddo who’s about Abby’s age of 8, where they’re starting to outgrow the “babyish” games, but you’re hesitant to let them move up to some of the more grown-up games due to adult content, this game is SUCH an awesome choice. The open-world concept is cool, because it means that they don’t follow a scripted game-play – they can explore worlds, go into battles, choose what they want to do in the game, and it’s ever-evolving. But, it’s all appropriate content, and while you can play two-player, it’s not a multi-player game with strangers, so you don’t have to worry about any of the issues that come along with that. And, something that REALLY impressed us was that when you change out your weapons on your actual real-life ship on your controller – it actually does change instantly in the game, no lag at all. Super cool!

Starlink Xbox Game for Christmas

I mean, look at this face? All she needs for Christmas is a few more of those front teeth, ha. And all YOUR kids need this Christmas is the new Starlink: Battle for Atlas Xbox One Starter Kit game and accessories from Best Buy! I honestly think this would be a good fit for the entire family – little kids might not fully understand all of the plot, but will love the idea of mixing and matching the toys and players and ships. The game has something for everyone, since the open-world style allows them to make the game what they want it to be. (Abby loves exploring the planets for weird lifeforms, and collecting scientific data about the animals.) The modular toy technology means you can buy new pieces to keep the game fresh and new, and they’re super affordable. And – there are multiple settings, easy to hard, so you can adjust it to any skill level too!

Air Hogs Vectron Wave Set Rocks

This post was made possible by Double Duty Divas and Air Hogs. I was compensated for my participation in this campaign, but all opinions are 100% mine. #VectronInSpace

Ok. So when I was a kid, I totally wanted to be a princess. But I also loved working at the mechanic shop with my dad {when my Mister comes home smelling like grease, it totally makes me nostalgic.} And my two ambitions were to be an architect or an astronaut. So, I love it when my little girly, {Abby just turned four at the end of July} loves stuff like that too. I think it’s cool when girls have a balance of girly, smart, awesome, and bad ass. Right? :)

Which is why I thought it was super fun to have a playdate with her cousins, where we tested out the new Air Hogs toys. Sure, she loves her princess parties. But she thought these were AWESOME. And the big boys agreed – they had seen these in commercials forever, and were so excited to finally try them out. They take a tiny bit of effort to get used to – but then they rock. So much fun. They seriously just hover above your hands as you guide them around – like magic!

Air Hogs

The Air Hogs Vectron Wave set comes with the super cool “UFO” type piece that hovers above your hand, plus the charging base. To learn more about how it all works, and to stay updated on new promotions and info, check ’em out online: http://bit.ly/1q1VoY4.

Flying the Air Hog

See how awesome this is? You just turn it on, let ‘er rip, and watch it fly and hover above your hand, any way you guide it! So cool. Definitely a must-have for holiday shopping. And – don’t forget to enter to win – Win a Trip to Family Space Camp” Contest!!

Host a Barbie and the Secret Door Party

I participated in an In-Home Party Activation on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for Mattel. I received product samples to facilitate my party and a promotional item to thank me for participating.

When I was a little girl, I had no other girls to play with. I had three brothers. Almost all of my cousins were boys – the ones that weren’t were way older than me. The kids that lived on my street were pretty much all boys. I could get my brothers to play Barbies with me every once in awhile, if I let He-Man or G.I. Joe come hang out and drive her pink Mustang convertible, but that was about it. So, now that I have a little girl of my own, who loves to play with dolls, I’m totally living it up. Which is why I was super excited for this new movie to come out – Barbie and the Secret Door.

Why I love the Nintendo 2DS and the Tomodachi Life Game from Best Buy

The reviewer has been compensated in the form of a Best Buy Gift Card and/or received the product/service at a reduced price or for free.

You guys know I am always conflicted on giving the kids more tech gadgets, right? I’m a BIG believer in kids doing old school stuff like running and climbing and playing outside. My Mister’s oldest daughter told my nephews one day – {they’re 8 & 10} – about how she used to play. That she didn’t have all these gadgets and tablets and phones… She had geese. And 10 acres. And that was it. How times have changed. Lol. And I love non-tech type toys, especially for my little nephew who has a few sensory disorders. But at the same time, I do love the way that technology can seriously help kids learn, grow, and expand their minds. It’s amazing!

Trash to Toys: Make 10 Recycled Educational Toys

Did you celebrate Earth Day on April 22nd? Across the country, Earth Day is a yearly reminder to think about our role in protecting the environment. Parents can totally have a positive impact on this by creating fun, educational toys from everyday items that may initially seem like trash, but can be repurposed into teaching tools. It’s a fun way to set an example for your kids while spending quality time. And honestly – why keep buying new toys when we all know that kids usually prefer the box it came in anyway? {We’ve all seen it.} When Abby was little, and I’d clean her room, I’d catch myself doing a regular room clean-up, and bagging up so many toys to give away. Why? What a waste of my money, and my time to clean ’em all up! So now, we have a few collections we love {Helloooooooo, I’m talking to you, Fisher-Price Little People Toys. Seriously, I think I might like them even more than her.} But in between – we do crafts, play games, or make our toys and entertainment. Which is why I looooove having the chance to share these great ideas with you – get your own environmentally-friendly kids toys idea inspiration too….

Bring the Nutcracker Story to Life…

Nutcracker Teddie from Cuddle Barn helps bring the classic Nutcracker holiday story to life... I’ve always been intrigued by nutcrackers. My mom has collected them for years, and displays them all together at the holidays. When I was a little girl, I remember how magical they seemed, the way you could move the lever on the back to make them “talk,” how majestic they always looked, in their suits adorned with buttons and glitz. Then, when I saw the Nutcracker ballet for the first time – it really brought all of that magic to life for me. I would dream of our nutcrackers coming to life too, and dancing around the house while I slept. And now, my little girl {3 years old} has fallen in love with the magic of nutcrackers too… Grandma just put them out on our shelves this week, and she can’t keep her hands off of them! So, it was perfect timing to pull out a super fun new toy for the holidays – the Nutcracker Teddie.
