It can be hard to pick out the perfect gifts during the holidays. Seriously – whether you’re staring down the crazy-full aisles of toys in the store, or trying to find your way through the overwhelming selection on huge online stores, there are so many choices it can make your head spin. Which is why I’m here to share another of my fave holiday toy picks with you guys.
I’ve been eyeing the Lalaloopsy dolls for quite some time now. Abby is absolutely in love with the movie Coraline – you know, that quirky, offbeat film from a few years ago? Well, many of the characters in that movie have button eyes, and Coraline herself is full of bright colors – blue hair and a striking yellow rain jacket. So the Lalaloopsy dolls seem like something she’d be really into. But – I hadn’t ever heard her ask for them, and she was still pretty little last holiday season {just 2 years old} – so I waited. And I’m glad I did – I recently introduced her to the cartoons on TV, and she absolutely adores the magical world of “wawawoopsy” now. Which meant is was the perfect time for some early Christmas gifts….
Hear that excitement? “It’s the best one EVER!!” That is her highest compliment these days :) This was the first doll that she opened – the Lalaloopsy Workshop Doll set. I actually hadn’t even seen these yet before my friends over at Glam sent this set over to check out, but it is so cool. This set comes with two workshop dolls to mix and match – you can swap all of the pieces: heads, hats, hair, accessories, even arms and legs. It’s a really fun way to bring the Lalaloopsy story to life, as you “create” your own dolls in your own “workshop.” If you’re not familiar with the story behind these toys…
“The Lalaloopsy dolls were once rag dolls who magically came to life when their very last stitch was sewn. Each doll has her own personality that comes from the fabrics used to make her.”
Adorable, right? The pieces are just a leeeetle bit tough to snap together the first time or two you swap them, so if you have very little hands playing with this set, they might need a little help. But within an hour or so of play – {gasp! With the same toy?? That’s how you know it’s a good one…} the pieces snapped for her just fine with no help, and stay in really sturdy so they can play without worry of things falling apart. Definitely 5 stars from me! I love the way these dolls help her develop her imagination and her motor skills.
The next doll she opened up was this adorable Lalaloopsy Loopy Hair Doll. She comes with a bunch of adorable accessories – so that you can twist, braid, clip, and loop her hair into “sew” many fun styles. Abby looooves just sitting and styling little Mittens Fluff ‘n Stuff {yes, that’s really her name – too adorable, I know it.} And again, I like that it’s more than just a doll – there is a fun way to interact with it. And it’s seriously just so stinkin’ cute. LOVE-love.
