So… You guys know how much I LOVE daily deal sites.

I lost my job before I was able to return from my maternity leave. And I’ve been a {very happy!} stay at home momma ever since. I’m broke as all heck, because belive it or not, blogging doesn’t make you a millionaire, especially the first 3 months :) But I am so so lucky to get to be at home.

But with all of the things a {too fast!!} growing baby needs, I would NEVER be able to afford things without using these deal sites, especially the ones targeted towards moms!!

The sites all work on a similar idea… If a company offers ONE deal at a SUPER deep discount, but gets TONS of sales from it, it can be worth it for them. And it is TOTALLY worth it to you to get that daily deal, if it is something that you’re needing.

I’ve gotten a diaper bag at over $100 off retail, toys for $50 – 90% off, and lots of gift certificates for things like restaurants, the zoo, and classes, at really great, affordable, prices.

Such a fun site!

Check out Mom.com! This is another one of my favorite “Daily Deal” sites, and it is focused {can you guess?} on products just for moms, babies, and kids.

I love the name. I love the selection of deals they present. And I LOVE the prices on those deals!! Having a baby is expensive, and there are so so many things to buy that I never expected or thought of. Using these types of sites to grab stuff we need at really deep discounts is the only way I can afford to stay home with the little one.

If you do the math, they are a much better deal than any of the higher dollar amounts. I earn enough Swag Bucks to get a $5 Amazon card about once every week or two. Love this book, “Peek a Who?”, perhaps partly because I have a current obsession with Owls. But this is a super cute book that our kids think is so much fun.

Another favorite at my house is this adorable giraffe soother. It plays 4 different sound settings, from a white noise to a fun jungle beat. It also has a little velcro strap that you can use to attach it to the stroller or carseat. So cute.

Our current favorite movie. Seriously, so good. The little yellow guys’ laugh is just so contagious. Even I like watching this one :)

Then, you can get a live feed, or with certain plans, look back at what’s already happened right on your computer or through the Dropcam app for both iPhones and Androids. Yes, that’s right, you can view everything Dropcam sees right on your Smartphone.

The price is kinda high, but really, I think it’s worth it. It’s a pretty moderate price really, for something this cool, that can give you this much peace of mind.

I can imagine a few scenarios:

You go on vacation, and want to make sure you’re home is safe. From robber-type bad guys, of course. But also from a pipe bursting, or some other type of disaster. I know that when we go away for a bit, I ALWAYS worry about things at home. And we don’t have a trusty neighbor to check in. So this would really ease my wildly imaginative mind!
Speaking of neighbors watching the house…. Wouldn’t it be nice to see what they’re up to when they come by to water the plants or feed the cat? Do they snoop through your cupboard? Or pick their nose? All of the important type of things that I need to know. Right?
And speaking of the cat, maybe I want to check on her and see how she’s doing during the day. Maybe not, since cats are pretty darn boring. But maybe? Or, as I saw suggested on the Digitwirl website, maybe you want to check on your chickens. A live Chicken Cam. Don’t laugh. It wasn’t my idea, but I like it. I’d watch Reality Chicken TV. Really. I’m like that.
And speaking of robber type bad guys… Imagine that your home DOES get broken in to sometime. How great would it be to have it on VIDEO, to catch the people that did it? Yup. Batman can’t always be there to save the day. Sometimes you need Dropcam.

So, you can see this is a pretty valuable purchase, and totally worth the investment.

I also like that I could use it as a baby monitor, and let daddy get to watch the baby from his iPhone while he’s at work. Super fun idea.
