10+ Weekend Frugal Finds for Busy Moms

I love free stuff. That’s actually how this blog started out… When I found out that I was pregnant, I started looking for tips on stretching my budget farther, which led me to the world of super smart blogs written by super clever moms. I learned that there were tons of ways to earn money from home, shop online for free, and get free stuff. Between requesting samples of cool new products and winning a lot of fun giveaways, checking my mailbox started to feel like Christmas every day!

When I lost my job right after having Abby, I decided that I’d share some of the cool tips that I’d learned – in addition to the freebies, I’d also become a master at the whole, “Use it up, wear it out, make it do, or do without” type of lifestyle. We grow our own fruits and veggies, do a lot of canning and freezing, clip coupons, and love DIY. So I started Sunshine and Sippy Cups as a way to share all of that fun stuff! So I’ve decided that on the weekends, as I go through my emails and find cool free stuff and frugal ideas, I’ll share my favorites in a list with you ladies too. Welcome to the first edition of Frugal Finds for Busy Moms :)

How to find free and frugal stuff - for moms

Frugal Finds for Busy Moms

  • Free LeapPad apps: When you log in to your online LeapFrog account, look for a button on the left side that says “redeem codes” – then enter these two codes, and you’ll get the apps, totally free! Abby adores the Alphabet one. Alphabet Stew – Regular Price $7.50 – FREE with Code  5813-0790-4610-4973, and The Book of Super Awesome Stuff – Regular Price $7.50 with Code 5813-1140-1518-1413.
  • Two fun free ebooks: 33 Endangered Animals of the World (Cool Facts and Picture Book Series for Kids) is a really fun book for kids. And I love the tips in Body Moisturizers :The Ultimate Guide – Over 30 Homemade & Refreshing Recipes – this would be a great way to make some homemade holiday gifts.
  • Free Photo Cards: Get a custom set of 10 free cards from Shutterfly. Choose from signature cardstock in select sizes. Use promo code: FREECARDS to get them – Offer ends Monday, 9/23. And if you want to order more fun stuff, use SHIP30 for free shipping on orders over $30 bucks.
  • Target: I love the free samples from Target! Right now they have a sample pack of Airborne Immune Support Supplements, a free Maybelline Shine-Free Stick Foundation, and a Snapple Brew Over Ice K-Cup pack.
  • Pampers: If you’re not a member yet, but are in the diaper-buying stage, this is a great way to earn free stuff by buying stuff you need anyway. Join the Pampers Gifts to Grow club, and get 100 free points today. And if you’re already a member – did you know that you earn triple points on every code you enter before 10/6/13? Very cool.
  • Accessories: I love, love, love this – tons of cute accessories for only a buck or two, always shipped free. Here are a couple faves that I’ve ordered today: Retro Camera Photographer Necklace for .96 cents, Vintage Crystal Peacock Hair Clip for just .99 cents, and 2 Carat Cubic Zirconia Studs for just $1.25!! I buy so much of this stuff, and stock up for holiday gifts too.
  • HouseParty: I love this site. They send you free products, samples, and other party goodies – you get to throw a party with your friends for free! My fave ever was the Fisher Price toy party – check out the crazy-amazing amount of free toys they sent us. They have some really fun parties to apply to host right now: BEJEWELED & TWISTER Game Night Slumber PartyChinet Bakeware® Holiday Bake & Take House PartyParty More with Hasbro Gaming House PartySip & Savor House Party, and more good stuff. Apply for a few – and good luck!
  • Fashion: This is a super fun, free, and fabulous way to get more out of your wardrobe – Check out her tips on using Pinterest to get realistic fashion inspiration for the things you already have. Love it!
  • Recipe Planner: Organize your recipe collection in one place: Get access to free recipes and cookbooks, use their meal planning features, get calorie counts for it all – and make a printable recipe list too! I’m going to use it to plan my holiday meals and parties – love the estimated calorie count built right into the recipe planning process. Super cool.
  • Birthday Cards: Pin this for later – EverythingEtsy.com has a great collection of 8 totally free printable birthday cards – and they’re all super cute.
  • Free Trials: I love places that let me try before I buy :) A couple current faves are – ABCMouse.com, which is packed full of super cool learning resources for kids. Abby is 3, and absolutely adores this! I did the free trial a couple of months ago, and by day 3 went ahead and signed up for the full service. Love. Another cool one I just started trying out is DailyBurn.com. I’m back on the weight-loss path again, and this is filled with cool tips, and free workouts.
