It’s time for Small Business Saturday!!… I’ve been telling you guys about this for awhile now – why I love supporting other locally owned businesses, and how our plans for shopping small changed last week. But now that the day has arrived {well, tomorrow morning!} – I’m super excited to spend an afternoon checking out some of the amazing local shops I’ve been missing for awhile. {Hey, I love a reason to shop!}
This is a great spot to shop locally here in Yakima, Washington where I live {photo credit} – we’ve got an amazing historic district downtown, filled with gorgeously restored old buildings, wineries and tasting rooms that support our local vineyards, and lots of really unique boutiques and shops to visit, filled with great products AND great people. I worked in retail management for over 15 years, and spent every Black Friday of that time working in malls, braving the crowds and chaos. I’ve seen how crazy people can get over a sale, and do not miss it one bit. I prefer to spend the day after Thanksgiving at home, putting up my Christmas decorations, listing to my favorite holiday tunes, eating leftovers, and relaxing. But I do take some time on Small Business Saturday to head out and let the people who own my favorite local businesses know how much I appreciate their hard work!
