Are you prepared for Prom?

This infographic didn’t surprise me – I just read an article the other day, about how kids are taking prom to the same types of extremes that weddings have gone to – Elaborate set-ups similar to proposals, just to ask someone to be their date, total overspending on things like hair, make-up, tanning, nails, accessories, dress, shoes, bag, dinner, limo – Yikes! I do get that it’s a totally special moment for teens – But shoot, I didn’t even GO to my prom, and I turned out Ok, lol. This just seems like way too much money for teens to spend on one night, right?

How to dress up a basic tee this summer!

Old Navy BEST-TEES are summer essentials!!

I love light-weight summer tees. But, for me, they can be hard to find, because I’m really picky about my tees. Here are the must-haves for me:

Really light and breathable.
LONG. I’m long waisted, and need a tee that is long enough to be comfy and NOT pull up to show my tummy.
Great colors. When I find a top that I love, I want to buy it in every color, so I love a big selection.
Easy to care for. I hate shirts that don’t wash up well, that shrink or fade or lose their shape.

Well – I have found my perfect summer solution – Old Navy BEST-TEES!! Ohmyheck ladies, these are the best tee I’ve found in a few years. I was super excited when Mom Central sent me one to test drive – since it was from Old Navy, which is one of my fave stores for summer stock-up shopping, I had high hopes. And when it arrived, I was NOT disappointed – it totally hit every point that I need in a summer basic. So what did I do? I ran out and bought 7 more colors :)

These tees might be basic, but they’re NOT boring!!

Above, I used one of my fave colors in the new Old Navy tees to make two totally different outfits using some super fun Old Navy spring fashion pieces. On the left is a great casual outfit, with a fun striped hoodie and flip flops, and on the right is an idea of how you can dress up a basic tee a little too, for a fun afternoon out with the girls. These BEST-TEES have a really nice finish to them, making them totally versatile and easy to mix and match with tons of pieces.

Who’s the best tee of all time…

Mr. T is an awesome T, but I have to say that I think these new BEST-TEES are even better, lol. They come in crew or v-neck, in sizes from XS to 4X for women, 3X for men, in petite or tall, with kids sizes too! You can even find this same cut and fabric in tanks, racerbacks and layering pieces. LOVE this!!

Hip Fashion for the Mini Style Star

Keepin it fresh, hip, fun

The kids in my house are all such little rock stars. My brother is a guitar player in a metal band, so my nephews love to play their toy guitars and dance around like crazy to rock music. My little girl developed her love of groovin’ really early on too – she’s 18 months old, and one of her most-used words is “Dance?? Dance!!” when she hears a song on the radio that she likes. {Speaking of dancing, have you entered the big dance party contest yet? Super awesome.} And she is just the funniest little diva already, always stealing my shoes and accessories to dress up. Our house is a wild and crazy place – but it’s always a good time.

When my favorite Celebrity Baby Trend Expert – Rachel Florio, told me about the awesome new fashions at Little Trendstar, I knew that these would be the perfect fit for us! They sent me over the adorably rockin’ Edie short sleeve tee for Abby, and I love it. It’s so funny – When I opened up the package, {which is equally awesome, packaged up in funky red tissue paper with stars, totally cool} – my first thought when I saw this tee was that it reminded me of Gwen Stefani. She has always been one of style-idols. How funny is it that when I’m browsing the other designs on LittleTrendstar.com – I see that Gwen Stefani shops for her little guy’s fashions here too. Love it.

Life is a Stage

How cute is my little rock star in her new tee from Little Trendstar, right? She cracks me up – I had a little background all set up, with some fun props – but she was not having it. She took off running around the kitchen, dancing to the Beastie Boys, goofin’ around. But this picture that I caught on accident is so fun, and makes me smile every time. This was taken a couple weeks ago – She’s now worn this several times, and I’m really pleased to see that it washes up great. Some kids tees tend to fade or shrink, but this perfect. {FYI: This shirt ran perfectly true to size, no need to order up or down.}

Does your daughter ever look at you less like her M.O.M. and more like her A.T.M.? Ok – Confession time. When I was in high school, I didn’t always spend the money that my parents gave me the way that they had intended it to be used. They’d give me lunch money for the week… I’d eat a granola bar instead, and save it for the weekend to go out with my friends. And I was a GOOD kid, lol. Imagine what the bad kids are saving up their money for, right? That’s what makes this such an awesome tool for parents – it gives you a way to monitor what your kids are up to, and where they’re spending their money – without getting too nosy.
