Do you need a momma makeover too? I know I do! The wardrobe that worked in my “old life” – pre-baby, when I was skinnier, worked in fashion merchandising, and went out a lot – doesn’t exactly work well with my new routines or my new shape. With the help of Nutrisystem I’m down 16 pounds so far – {can I get a woo hoo??} – but still… I don’t quite fit into my old clothes, but am losing enough that my “in between” styles no longer fit either. I need a new wardrobe that fits my new busy-in-a-different way lifestyle.

Instead of running crazy-busy all day to set up new store displays, build outfits for customers, and stock shelves – I’m running crazy-busy after a toddler who just stuck yet another crayon up her nose. Less glamorous for sure. But I need to stop wearing elastic waist pants….
I finally fit into my VERY favorite super expensive pair of jeans from before I had a baby… But I don’t fit into everything. I’m losing weight, and think I’ll hit my goal by the end of summer. But while I’m getting smaller, I seem to be a very different shape than I was pre-baby, and not all of my old styles are going to work for me now.
I need clothes that are fun and trendy, and get me out of frump-mom territory, while still being comfy and easy enough to work from home with a toddler.
Instead of fashions that can go from work to a night out – I need something that goes from blogging at my desk to cleaning Cheerios out of the VCR, and is still presentable for a last minute playdate at the park. My, how life has changed.

How a Biscotti Break Makes Mom Life a Little Easier

Today’s lives move so fast. We often forget to take a break, a moment to just slow things down and breathe… A photo captures a moment forever. – Do you take a “moment” just for yourself each day? I mean sure, it’d be nice if I was able to get out for a girl’s night out more often. Or maybe an afternoon of shopping, or a mani-pedi. Heck – some days it would be nice if I could just go to the bathroom by myself…. But, no matter how hectic the busy mom life gets, it’s important to find a way to carve out at least a little bit of time that’s just for you.

Yes, I know that taking a biscotti break isn’t the same as a day at the spa.

But it is a great little addition to my day – and honestly, it’s those little moments in each day that help keep stress at bay anyway, right? Nonni’s Biscotti is so perfect – high quality all-natural ingredients. The perfect combination of textures and flavors too – really lightly crunchy {not like the rock-hard store-bought biscotti’s that I’ve tried before}, with a great blend of sweetness. Seriously, these surprised me – The only biscotti that I’ve ever liked was the homemade version that my friend’s Italian mom and grandma used to make when I’d come to visit – but these Caramel Milk Chocolate bites are crazy good. I believe it when they call them an “Authentic Italian Family Recipe”, I’ve just never had such a good version that you could purchase off the shelf. They’re my new go-to morning snack… I slip out to the back patio with my newspaper, a bowl of biscotti, and a tall glass of iced coffee to dip them into – and for a half hour, it’s all me time, baby.

The movie looks hilarious – and while it’s not really based on the book, it does fit perfectly – It’s all about that nervousness and anticipation we all felt during our first pregnancy.

I am super excited to see this when it comes out, and the boys in our house are going crazy for it already. I’m sure there are a ton of you moms out there who know what I’m talking about, lol. So, if you’re big Marvel fans, here’s some info for ya:

Avocado Toast Recipe

1 full ripened avocado from Mexico, halved, pitted, and peeled.
Salt
Ground Black Pepper
2 large slices of bread, toasted
Optional: 2 slices of cooked bacon, or 2 tablespoons chopped tomato

This is super simple – grab a bowl, and mash up the avocado with a fork – then season to make your taste buds happy with the desired amount of salt and pepper. {I like very little salt, lots and lots of pepper} Then divide the avocado mix evenly onto the two slices of toast, and spread to cover. Cut each slice in half, eat, and enjoy a ridiculously healthy start to your day!

Exercise Your Creativity with Dance!

Everyone loves to dance, right? Football players whip out some crazy dance moves when they make a touch down. Your husband probably does a little dance at home too when his team scores. I pull out some sweet 80’s dance moves when I’m cooking dinner, lol. And, I am SO glad to see that my little girl loves to dance as much as I do – She has her favorite songs on the radio, and will yell “Dance?? Dance!!” until everyone in the house is doing silly dances with her too. Goofy? Yes. Sometimes embarrassing if we have company? For sure. But those giggles and twirls and wiggles? Priceless.

Join the Curious George Dance Party!

Just like my little monkey – Curious George loves to dance too. Dancing is a great exercise for little bodies – it builds coordination, creativity, and confidence. So grab your little dancers, turn on your video camera, and capture your families best moves for a chance to be featured in an upcoming Curious George DVD. How cool is that, right?

How it works:

You’ll want to head over to the Curious George Dance Party Contest site to read all the rules and regulations. But here’s a quick overview to get started:

Get a video of your cute little monkey dancing to the Curious George theme song. {You’ll find it on the contest site!} There’s a limit of 60 seconds per video, so no need for anything too complicated or time-consuming. Just have fun with it!
Submit your video and fill out the easy entry form. And do it soon – the deadline for submitting your awesome videos is April 2, 2012.
A panel of judges will choose 10 finalists, based on creativity, enthusiasm, and originality. Those 10 super fun videos will be posted on their site, so that fans can vote on their very favorite little dancer. I can’t wait to see the finalists!
The grand prize winner will have their moves featured on an upcoming Curious George DVD, a great Curiousity Kit filled with fun Curious George goodies, and maybe even a visit from George himself! There are also prize packages for all of the runners up too.
