Sweet gadget for Pandora radio lovers

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Lenovo for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

Is anyone else totally hooked on Pandora radio? Pandora is a free online music site where you can build your own personalized radio stations. I pay for the upgraded version each year, since I listen to it non-stop, every day. I have a silly songs station for Abby to listen to while we play in the afternoon – Wooly Bully is our fave for dancing. I have a lullaby station for her to listen to at night. I have stations for whatever mood I might be in too – from a rowdy oldies station featuring Creedence Clearwater, to an awesome Adele station that helps me get through a couple hours of online writing each night – I seriously need music on in our house all of the time. But I also need something to make it sound better! I had no idea how bad my computer speakers were until I heard my brother's one day. I didn't know that a computer could HAVE awesome sound! So I knew it was time to upgrade mine, and fast.

Then I found these little guys – Their official name is the Lenovo speaker M0620. I think I'll name mine MO. They're cute, they're totally portable – which is perfect when you want to blast tunes from the laptop in the kitchen for dinnertime dance parties, and they can work with your desktop, laptop, smartphone, or MP3 players too.

Best part – From May 15 – May 21, these awesome speakers are only $11.99. Awesome.

So – check out the Lenovo speaker online, order one for you, and a few for easy Father's Day gifts too, and check out the other sales and cool gadgets they've got available. I ordered mine, and am super excited to soon hear my tunes from these rockin' little speakers instead of the old ones I've had for years. Less than $12 bucks to make this happy? That's a good deal :)

Your Dog Loves You – Make Sure You Love Them Back

I did NOT want a dog. Our last dog had been hit by a car, which broke my heart. I had a new baby to take care of. And a new blog. And I really didn’t know anything about training a puppy – and really didn’t have the time or energy to learn. But – Mike found a little cutie pie that he just couldn’t resist, and brought him home. It was supposed to be “his” dog. But it wasn’t. He was Abby’s dog…..

“Friendship isn’t a big thing – it’s a million little things.” – Author Unknown

From the very beginning, they were best friends. He would cry and whine and jump at the crib, until I would pick him up to see her. Eventually he got big enough to jump INTO the crib. She would wake up in the morning and giggle as she watched him hop up and down, until he finally made it over the rail and in to play. She learned to share by offering him bites of her snacks. She even tried to share her sippy cups with him. {Gross, right? Lol.} They played together, napped together, snuggled together…. Total besties.

“A friend is one of the nicest things you can have, and one of the best things you can be.” – Douglas Pagels

They’ve grown up together – they’re both almost 2 years old now. And they’re still the best of friends. When I mentioned at the beginning of this post that I didn’t know how to train a puppy – well, I never learned either. He’s not potty trained, he jumps into the high chair after I take Abby out and tries to find little bites that have been left behind, and he cries like an abandoned baby when we leave to run errands for the day. But, he loves Abby and I unconditionally, which can make up for a lot. He’s an absolute sweetheart, even if he’s pretty rough around the edges. But who knows – I’m in the process of potty training Abby, maybe I can potty train him too…. {Wishful thinking?}

“It takes a long time to grow an old friend.” – John Leonard

Since my little guy, Deuce, shows us daily how much he loves us, it’s definitely important to me to love him back. We take him to the dog park to run, he goes on daily walks around the neighboorhood with Abby and I – and since every good boy deserves a reward sometimes, we buy him the best dog treats. These Cesar Cookie Crunchies are a favorite – they’re shaped like little hearts and bones, and come in flavors he loves like Rotisserie Chicken and Filet Mignon. It’s an easy way to give a little love to my fave furry fella.

So, one time I won a trip to Las Vegas. I worked for a crazy-fun company where I did really big-money type sales over the phone. It was kind of like that movie Boiler Room, but legit, lol. My boyfriend and I had talked about going to Vegas for-ev-ah, so I was totally stoked to win this! Learn the secret to frugal organic gardening

This post brought to you by Whitney Farms. All opinions are 100% mine.

Most of you know that I've been on a mission to live a cleaner, greener life ever since I found out that I was pregnant with Abby a couple years ago. It's incredibly important to me to be more aware of the foods we eat, the air we breath, and the things that we use. But – there is SO much yucky stuff out there, it is kind of tough to avoid it all! One solution that works for me is to have my own garden, where I can grow a lot of our own fruits and veggies, so that I know at least some of our food is as safe and healthy as can be. Plus, I save a TON of money by growing so much of our food myself – and it really doesn't take that much time.

One thing that a lot of people don't think about when preparing to grow their own foods is the type of plant foods and fertilers that they'll use to help their plants grow. Many people think that the only thing that matters is what you put on your plants once they're full grown – so they avoid spraying them with pesticides or chemicals once they have fruit on them. But, that's not the only thing to think about! I read an article recently that really reminded me how important it is to use organic soil and organic plant food in my garden – You've probably heard about Colony Collapse, and the disappearance of huge percentages of our honey bee populations, right? Well, one thing that has been found to be a reason for it is pesticide use – but it's from pesticides used on the SEEDS of the plants. These chemicals become part of the plant itself, and get into water droplets on the leaves, which bees then ingest. Crazy, right? I would never have realized that something on the tiny seeds could affect the full grown plant in such a serious way! That's why I'm a big believer in using organic products in my garden like the ones from Whitney Farms®.

Organic Plant Food

You can still garden totally naturally, but get a little boost to help your veggies grow bigger and your flowers bloom brighter by using Whitney Farms products. They are 100% natural, with no additives or artificial junk – just specially designed protein-based stuff that's good for your plants – and your family! I use this to feed my flowers, and I LOVE the Tomato and Vegetable Food too. Most garden's soil needs a little help – and this is the best organic way that I've found to give it a little love. And – since I'm a frugal momma too, I found you a coupon to save a few bucks if you want to try this good stuff too. Visit Whitney Farms® online to print out a coupon for $3 off your next purchase!

Girls Night Out + Cinco de Mayo = Good Times #CoronaRita

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Chili’s Grill & Bar for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

Cinco de Mayo is coming up soon – {Please don't ask me what date it's on. It's the 5th of May, silly.} – And, you know that I LOVE any reason to celebrate and party it up! We usually do a big BBQ at the house – but with the weather so rainy this year, I'm thinking that instead, I'll plan a girl's night out. While I was looking for spots to gather my girls at – I found a PERFECT party place – Chilli's! Want to know why it's perfect for a Cinco de Mayo Girl's Night Extravaganza? Keep reading and I'll tell you…. {Oh the suspense! I know.}

CoronaRita sm.jpg

Do you love your margarita so much that you want to buy it a beer?

Then you are going to love my new favorite drink that makes Happy Hour even happier – The CoronaRita at Chili's. Sounds good, right? Pair it with the $20 Dinner for 2 options, and you've got some good times. The $20 Dinner for 2 is my favorite because each pair splits an appetizer like chips and salsa or guacamole, then gets to pick their own entree. To keep with the theme, grab something like the Margarita Grilled Chicken, or Quesadilla Explosion Salad. Seriously, you cannot find many better dinner and drinks options for a Cinco de Mayo night out than this. Love it.

Check in with Friends for a Free Appetizer

If you're a FourSquare junkie like I am – make sure to check in to Chilli's during Happy Hour any day of the wek to get a totally free appetizer! Free is my favorite price. And – every location is a little different I'm sure, but our local Chilli's has tons of daily specials on drinks and dinners – and always has awesome deals during Happy Hour. So – grab your girls from their boring cubicals, and bring 'em to Chili's ANY night this month, for some good times, good food, and amazingly good drinks!

Have fun – but be smart

You already know this – but remember – You must be 21 years or older to drink alcoholic beverages, and as always – PLEASE remember to drink responsibly. A cab is way cheaper than a DUI ladies. But you're all super duper smarty pants types, so I don't need to tell you that, right? :)

Doing What I Love – Sharing My Favorite Things With You!

Why I Love What I Do

I love this quote above – It’s so incredibly true. And I am SO blessed to be able to do what I do everyday. I love writing, I love photography, I love crafty/DIY/creative stuff, I love networking and marketing. So I rolled up all of those things that I love, and created this site! I get to share my favorite things with you guys each day – and that is the best kind of work that there is.

What You Can Look Forward to This Year

So… I had set up a schedule for this year, with different themes for each month. This helps to keep me organized, allows me to put together some great projects, and is just more fun. But – then in the middle of last month, my computer crashed. My hard drive failed, I had to take it to two different repair shops, only to learn that I had lost all of my photos, files, and information. {Eeeeeeeck!!!!} After losing a full week due to lack of computer, plus the loss of all of my work, I totally got thrown off schedule! But, I’m getting back on track now – so I can finally share this years editorial calendar with you. This gives you a big picture idea of what kind of cool stuff you’ll find on this site over the coming months…..

  1. April: This month is all about simplifying technology and home office organization. I’m putting together an awesome guide on how to choose the best laptop, will be sharing a bunch of cool gadgets, sites, and apps that will totally help you in your busy life, and will be sharing loads of the “Smart Solution” tips that you expect to find here each day. {I’ll also have a wonderful Mother’s Day Gift Guide running from mid-April until Mother’s Day, May 13th….}
  2. May: This month is all about Outdoor Living. Since many of us are on tighter budgets this year, a great alternative to spending on pricey vacations is to invest some bucks in upgrading your own outdoor space. For the same price as a weekend trip, you can build an outdoor oasis to enjoy all summer long. I’ll share gardening tips, and some great pool-prep tricks we learned getting ours ready last year. I’m searching out the best value in outdoor toys and patio furniture, and I’ll show you loads of pictures of our backyard transformation too.
  3. June: As the weather turns warmer, I’ll be focused on easy fashion and beauty advice for summer. From budget-friendly fashion ideas, to tips on humidity-proofing your hair – I’ll make sure you’re ready to start the season in style.
  4. July: It’s party time!! The month starts off with a bang at our house – 4th of July, followed a few days later by my nephews 6th birthday bash – This year is a Lego Theme. A couple of weeks later is my little girls 2nd birthday! Last year was pretty epic, so we’ll try to outdo it this year. {I’m thinking a Pirate and Princess Party!} – With our big in ground pool and huge property, we entertain pretty much all summer long, so this month’s theme is all about birthdays and BBQ’s.
  5. August: Back to school already? Yep – summer always just flies by, right? I will search out the very best values in back to school supplies, gear, and fall fashions. You’ll find some awesome giveaway events, and lots of great tips to help adjust to the changing season.
  6. September: This is the time of year that I get back into the kitchen again. Just like Spring Cleaning, I like to do a Fall Spruce Up too – take the summer serving pieces and party dishes back out to the garage, and replace them with fall pieces. I start craving heartier foods again – it’s time for crock pots and roasters, pies and pumpkins. I’ll share my favorite recipes, kitchen organization tips, and more.
  7. October: ??? I have a ton of ideas for this – But haven’t quite narrowed it down. I’d LOVE for you guys to leave me some suggestions in the comments of what you’d most like to see featured!
  8. November: This month I will be sharing some of my favorite crafty ideas – because homemade gifts rock! With the holiday season approaching fast, this is a great time to start creating one-of-a-kind gifts for your favorite people.
  9. December: Christmas time!!! Oh, how I love this time of year. You can expect to see tons of creative ideas for meal planning and decorating, and the very best shopping advice around. I love low prices, but I’m more about value – A high-end item is worth paying more for if the quality is there. I’ll find you the best value for your holiday shopping buck, match it with great cash-back shopping sites – then even show you cool ideas to wrap your packages, too. Christmas is such a beautiful way to end the year….

I hope that you’re as excited as I am about these monthly themes! Of course, each month will have loads of other content too – I’m not going to post on only the months theme. But this gives me a way to put together some fun series of posts, create some really awesome giveaway events, and build cool content for you to read. The end of March is my One-Year Blogiversary – {I can’t believe it’s been a year already!} – And I can’t wait to see what adventures the rest of this year brings me.

Thanks for reading – You all rock!

Jewelry Takes People’s Minds Off Your Wrinkles

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Platinum Guild International USA for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

platinum, platinum rings, alternatives to diamonds

“Jewelry takes people’s minds off your wrinkles.” – Sonja Henie

Mother’s Day is coming up soon, which means it’s time to start looking for gift ideas that are as awesome as our moms are. There are as many gift ideas as there are types of mommas – from cool tech gadgets, to framed mommy memories – or if you have a mom like mine, a shiny new wheel barrow filled with tools, lol. Or – maybe you have a momma who loves pretty things, like flowers and jewelry. If so, I have an awesome tip for you – Now that the prices of gold have gone up so much, Platinum is actually a more affordable option. This rocks my socks, because I’ve always loved Platinum pieces. Here are a few reasons why Platinum is such an awesome option:

  • Platinum is naturally a white metal. If you choose white gold, you’re getting gold that’s been mixed with an alloy to take away that yellow color. So, platinum never fades or changes color – but white gold has to be re-dipped about once or twice a year to keep it’s white color. And who has time for that?
  • Since platinum is such a pure metal, it doesn’t cast any color into the stones you set in it. That means that a diamond set in platinum sparkles and shines crazy bright – There’s a reason that this is what celebrities choose for red carpet events!
  • Platinum is super dense. No, not dense like that crazy guy in the next cubicle, lol. It’s more solid – 40% denser than 14K gold. What that means is that it’s able to hold your diamond or stone more securely. Also, it holds up to everyday wear much better – if gold is scratched, it loses tiny shavings of metal. When Platinum gets scratched, it just displaces the metal on the surface of the ring, never losing it.

Sounds good, right? It’s easier to care for, prettier to look at, and sturdy enough to keep up with the challenges of a busy mom life. Perfect. What better way to honor mom than with a piece of jewelry that’s as hard working and beautiful as she is? To learn more, and do some gift shopping, visit precious platinum online – that’s where I found the ring above. I love the simplicity of it, and I think that the pearl is a really cool alternative to a traditional diamond. I know that this would make ME a happy momma if I opened this package up on Mother’s Day. {Hint, hint honey – it’s May 13th. Put it on your list :)}
