Huge – Burt’s Bees Holiday Grab Bag Sale and More!

Can you believe we’re already starting to see holiday deals? But, according to the Christmas Clock, it’s only 71 days until Christmas. Which at first sounds like a lot – until you realize that’s just 10 more Fridays. Crazy, right? And, since I like to keep things on a small budget during the holidays, while still getting tons of fun gifts for my friends and family, I’m already on the hunt for great buys and cool freebies. The Best Way to Buy Chicken

This post includes a referral link. But I’m sharing because I am totally in love with this company!

I don’t eat a lot of red meat – but I do LOVE me some chicken. We’re trying to cut down our expenses, and also trying to eat healthier this year. {The Mister quit drinking soda around Christmas, and has lost a ton of weight from just that change alone!} We buy our beef from a local farmer – we bought half a cow, and he portioned it just how we wanted it, and it was a great deal. We just ordered half a pig, which will be coming soon too. I love knowing that the meat I’m buying is free of yucky hormones and artificial junk. But, I hadn’t found anywhere local to buy good quality chicken, in bulk, at a great price. Until we found Zaycon Foods. Seriously – I cannot believe I didn’t find out about them sooner!

5 Epic Father’s Day Gift Ideas

I would share a photo of here of my Mister, but he’d kill me. He might let me photograph an arm while it’s showing off a recipe he’s making on the grill. Maybe a foot that accidentally gets into the photo. But he’s not much of a fan of fame, lol. So – instead, I’ll just have to tell you about my favorite guy, and some of the awesome gifts he helped inspire as I put together this epic Father’s Day gift ideas list.

There are a lot of different types of guys – gizmo gurus, fitness fanatics, memory makers – but my Mister falls into the entertainer category. We don’t go out much, and have been working on creating some pretty awesome spaces here at the house, since we entertain a lot. We’ve got a bit pool, a sweet patio space, a huge “man cave” style shop where he and his friends work on race cars, and a giant back field filled with a garden and kids play area. And I’ll admit it – while I want to get him a Father’s Day gift he’ll love, I want to spend my money on something the rest of us will enjoy too :) So here are a few of my FAVE gift ideas, and why. And I’d love comments later on which one you think I should get – it’s such a tough choice when I shop at Best Buy, seriously.

The Land Before Time – Complete Collection Set. This was one of my favorite movies as a little girl – and one of the first that I saw in a movie theater. Lately Abby has had a big fascination with dinosaurs {what kid doesn’t go through that phase, right?} – so I rented this for her. She totally fell in love! How to Look Trendy in the Kitchen

I love aprons. I have way too big of a collection of pretty aprons, especially considering that The Mister does most of the cooking around here. But, I’m just a sucker for a good lookin’ apron. I feel all clever and domestic and in-control of my kitchen when I’m baking and wearing one of my favorite aprons – even though I’m not a kitchen pro. And we entertain a ton, especially in the summer, and a pretty apron makes me look more put-together when guests show up early than when I’m wearing sweatpants covered in flour-y hand prints :) And my very favorites come from Flirty Aprons. My little fur baby, Deuce, is a pain most of the time. {That’s him above, finding his happy spot in between my Mister’s feet.} He is about as old as Abby, {3 years old}, so should be potty trained, but continues to ruin the rugs in my house. He barks for no reason, and isn’t always very bright. But, he is the biggest lover you’ll ever see – he is the best snuggler, and has to be next to one of us in the house at all times, no matter what. And he’s pretty fluffy and cute. Don’t clean it up too quickly.” – Andy Rooney… I’m pretty sure I’ve told you before, like, maybe 200 million times, how much I love Christmas. It makes me feel like a little kid again – I seriously get so excited. And, I love to surprise people with the perfect gift. Seeing even the adults in the family light up when they get something special totally makes my holiday complete. That’s why I work on my holiday shopping year ’round, to be sure I’m not just buying a “something, anything, whatever I’ll just grab this and get out of here!” kind of gift at the mall, last minute. And my favorite gifts are things that are totally personal for the person receiving them – I hand-make a lot of presents, I love to create photo cards and gifts, and one of my more recent personal favorites this year has been choosing an item that I know the giftee will love, then having it customized with their names or family details. To give you an idea of what’s out there, I have a few of my fave gifts from this year to show ya….

Ok, first of all, let’s talk about a little gift I bought for me. Yep, I buy myself gifts “from Santa” every year. Because really, don’t moms always seem to get missed a lot when it comes to gifts?
