Smart Solutions for Busy Moms!
As a woman, do you even need to think about life insurance? … I used to wonder this. I thought life insurance was a big waste – and at the time, in my early 20’s, it probably wasn’t a necessity for me. I was single. I had no children. I live in central Washington, where we have four VERY distinct seasons – so spring brings a wonderful break from the snowy cold of winter. And, it means it’s time to get the garden going again! We’re in the middle of so darn many DIY projects around the house and property, it’s total chaos around here! But, at the same time – I am so excited to be celebrating spring with so many fun “refreshes” of our home and yard! But in the middle of all of the hustle and bustle, there’s one thing that has been a big challenge – the air. Yep, all three of us have terrible allergies, and the Mister has crazy-bad asthma. With so much going on – Trucks and tractors outside digging, dumping, pouring, and moving – plus the work inside – sanding, painting, moving, and building – it’s a wonder any of us can breath at all! And when you partner that with the regular allergy-inducers of spring, well, that’s a recipe for trouble, for sure. But, I have a very smart solution to share with ya’all – check it out…
Did you know that 500,000 times each year, a child gets into medicine that they shouldn’t, or gets the wrong dose to their medicine? How scary is that, right? We all know that there are some basic precautions to take, like keeping medicines up high, or in a locked cabinet. But there are SO many scenarios you might not expect, and so much information that can really help. I know from experience that even as an uber careful mom who worries over everything, things can still go wrong. I’ll share my story with you of when Abby got into the wrong meds, and then give you some awesome tips and tools to help keep your family safe.
Want to stop wasting money on cell phone service?… We all love our smartphones. I couldn’t LIVE without my new Windows phone – I use it to make lists, build my calendar, give the kids games to play while waiting in line at the grocery store, keep up with friends, check email – almost every part of my day is connected to that phone. And, one of my favorite things about my Windows phone is the way that I can personalize and customize it EXACTLY the way I want it. So it makes sense that I would want a cell phone service that lets me do the same thing, right? I don’t want to pay for extra services that I don’t need – what a waste!
Do you ever catch yourself saying things that totally make you feel old? Things like – “When I was a kid, we had an Atari and that was it!” – in response to the kids asking for the latest gaming console. Or, “A cell phone at 7? Did you know that when I was in high school we didn’t even have cell phones? We had pagers??” What’s a pager, Auntie Meagan? “Well, you’d use a payphone to page someone and enter the number where you were at and…” – Um, what’s a pay phone Auntie Meagan? Yep, times they are a’ changin’. {Sigh.} Now, even toddlers know how to use things like apps and tablets. So, how does an old-school mom adjust, and make sure that the tech her kids use are age appropriate and safe?

“Jumping at several small opportunities may get us there more quickly than waiting for one big one to come along.” – Hugh Allen… I seldom set many New Year’s Resolutions – the weather is dreary, and I’m exhausted from the bustle of the holiday season. But spring feels like time for fresh starts – new goals, new plans, big dreams. And this quote is a perfect motivator for me this spring – It’s a reminder that it’s not the BIG things that make a difference in life – whether we’re talking about relationships, saving money, weight loss, online business, or any of the other areas of that I have goals in – it’s the small, everyday, consistent actions that help us reach our goals. I think of the tortoise and the hare, or the joke, “How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time.” Right?
