This post to share cool new ways to use Palmolive is sponsored by Lunchbox. All opinions are my own. As always :) #PalmoliveWM
I love being crafty. I love being frugal. I love when I can be frugally crafty. Which is why, ever since I was a kid, I’ve been a big fan of “junk crafting” – taking things you would normally just throw away, and creating something nifty with them. Which also explains why I can’t throw away a jar to save my life. I’m a jar-aholic. True story. But seriously… Think about our grandparents. My grandma lived by the saying, “Use it up, wear it out, make it do, or do without.” You didn’t just buy new pants every season – you patched up last seasons. Let out the hem to make them longer. Or hemmed them shorter to hand down to the next kid. You know? So, in that spirit, I have a fun little DIY project for ya today. Super simple, perfect for back to school, and will cost you almost nothing. Perfect, right? :)
DIY Pencil or Marker Holder
Isn’t this super cute? It took Abby and I about 10 minutes to craft it up, and she LOVES it. I’ll be making more too, to organize all of the rest of her supplies. She’s hopefully going to start preschool soon – but we’re still trying to find the right one here locally. So until then, we’re doing super-awesome-cool preschool activities every day. Which means I needed to set up a little “home preschool” area for her – with her workbooks, games, and crafty stuff. These little holders are a perfect addition – we can hold markers, pencils, glue sticks, pom poms, pipe cleaners, popsicle sticks, and anything else little that needs a holder. Because – my OCD feels better when I have things organized :)
Ok – so all you need to get started is an empty Palmolive bottle. {Did you know how many cool things you can use Palmolive for? Check out 25 ways to use it. Awesome. And then you can empty tons of bottles, and make loads of cool stuff :) Follow the #PalmoliveWM hashtag on any of your fave social media to see what other moms are using it for!} Then, you can add any cool jazzy stuff of your choice. We used some Duck Tape, a few letter stickers, and some fabric flowers. But anything goes on a project like this!
All we did was cut the Palmolive bottle in half – {have an adult do this. I am clearly not an adult. I cut two fingers. Because I am clumsy as all heck. So make sure it’s an ADULT-adult. Not someone like me. This is my legal disclaimer, lol.} – then, wrap some of the Duck Tape around the top edge. It won’t be sharp, but still, I thought it was a good idea to make it softer and safer for little hands. I used the slim roll of Duck Tape like I showed in the pic. Then I added a big stripe of the more traditional style Duck Tape. Then another of the slim. And some cutie-patootie fabric flowers around the top edge, just for fun. Abby loves it, it cost me almost nothing, I reduced my garbage, and we have a super cute, totally functional new holder for her artistic supplies. Win- win- win- win!
