Grow your blog – Monetize, find new leads and blogging opportunities, and get the best tips too… Hi all! Welcome to another weekly Bloggertunities post, a round-up of the best blogging tips, tools, leads, opps, and events of the week. I hope you’ll find some helpful stuff – and if you do, be sure to share it! And if you have something awesome to share – event sign ups, linkys, tips posts, etc – post ‘em in the comments! I do my best to tweet those links out all week too.

Big weekly resource list for women bloggers

“I’m a great believer in luck, and I find the harder I work, the more I have of it.”– Thomas Jefferson

I love this quote. It’s absolutely so true, and is one of the things that guide my efforts at building an online business for myself. I’m not content to just have a blog… For me, this is my career. Branching out to freelance columns and side work, speaking at events, teaching local business owners basic social media skills, starting a second website… I have so many projects going on, and so many ideas for the future! And it is just so true – the harder you work, the more you learn, the more effort you put into helping others and building connections – that’s when the “luck” happens. What can YOU do differently this month to help some new luck find YOU?

  • Shaklee: They’re looking for new bloggers to partner with them on reviews of their weight loss shakes. Learn more and sign up here: Work with Shaklee.
  • Dodge: Apply to be the next Dodge Redline Blogger. This sounds SOoooooo cool. But since I don’t drive {never learned, don’t ask, long story, lol} – it’s not the best opp for me. But if you love cars, this could be amazing.
  • Reviewer Needed: Musings from a Stay at Home Mom is looking for a new product reviewer to join her team – preferably with a child over the age of 5, to help with big kid reviews. If you’re interested, check out the details on her site.
  • Healthy Blogger: If you’re a low carb lifestyle blogger, than Mom Blogger Pro might want to work with you on an upcoming campain! I’m not sure when this expires, since there’s no date I can see – but it’s worth checking out if you’re a good fit.
  • BlogHer: They have a program for a TV influencer, which is an ad network type of program.Learn more about all of the different opportunities available through the BlogHer network here.

  • Foodies: BlogHer is looking for bloggers to submit posts about their love of food, {and a few recipes too} – to be included in a new book they’re hoping to have ready before BlogHer Food. Pay is $50 if accepted. Get details of what they’re looking for on their site. {Also check out my list: Where to submit your recipes: 30 Alternatives to FoodGawker and Tastespotting.}

  • Fabtastic Bloggers: This is an awesomesauce new site you need to be checking out! You can see the blogger opps on their site here, and make sure to follow them on Facebook and Twitter too, to be updated quicker. You’ll love these ladies. All total rock stars.

Events, Giveaways, and Linkys

  • Craft, Bake, Rant: This is my favorite linky that I’ve seen in awhile – Link up your favorite craft, baking, or “rant” posts in this great linky! They’ll feature a few favorites each week, and share them on their own Pinterest and social media. Love it.
  • Twitter Party: I’m co-hosting a SUPER awesome Twitter party tomorrow – RSVP today for this rockin’ party with Mom Spark and Home Depot!
  • Blog Transformation Challenge: I’ve heard really good things about this from several people now, so I decided I’m going to give it a try too. It’s completely free, and you go at your own pace. Sign up for the Blog Transformation Challenge.
  • Giveaway Promote: If you have giveaways or events coming up, this is an amazing place to share them. You can list a giveaway for free {there are paid options too, to boost the traffic}, or submit an event for barter or pay. You can also find giveaway events to join, get cool resources, and more.
  • Create & Inspire Party: This is a super fun linky party, where you can add all of your creative creations for the past week. Recipes, DIY, crafts, and cool homemaking tips. Link up at the Create & Inspire party.
  • Foodies: Hey foodies! This isn’t really blogging related, but could be a great fit for some of you, and super fun – Johnsonville is having a contest. Check out the 4 chilli recipes on their site. Make suggestions on what YOU would do better. FOUR winners get $1,000 shopping sprees, cookware, and a year’s supply of sausage. Love it.
  • Mommy Solutions: Many of you know that this is a long-time love of mine :) Not only do I get good traffic from it, and even been featured a couple of times – but I also find SO many things to check out when browsing the linky! Link up your best Mom Solution to the Mommy Club: Share your resources and solutions linky.
  • A-Z Challenge: This sounds like a very cool event – I’d never heard of it until someone in one of my Triberr tribes mentioned it today. You sign up for the A-Z Blogging Challenge, {sign ups are open until April 1st} – and then it will be a full set of writing prompts, one per day, for each letter of the alphabet. Love stuff like this.
  • Crafty & Food Linkys: The end of this post has a BIG list of cool linkys to add your goods too. I’m loving linking up to stuff like this lately – it’s a great way to connect with new bloggers, new readers, and find new stuff to check out yourself, too.
  • Baby and Toddler Bloggers: If you have a blog that focuses on pregnancy, baby, or toddler topics, this might be a good fit for you! You get a free Twitter link just for helping to promote this giveaway for a $200 Diapers.com giveaway.

Tools and Resources

  • Google Alerts: I love these. I set them for: My name, my blog name, my website link, and a few hot topics I really want to follow. Then I get daily email alerts from Google Alerts when they’ve indexed something new with my name or site, or one of those terms I want to know about. It’s a great way to stay on top of things.
  • Likealyzer: This is a cool tool – super simple to use, and free. It won’t give you in-depth analysis, but it gives you a quick picture of how well you’re managing your Facebook page. I got a score of 79, with tips to respond to fans quicker, and to post more photos. It also mentioned that text status updates at 7am, are my most engaging posts. Check out your page on Likealyzer.
  • Design: This is really fun – HubSpot put together a list of 54 Examples of Brilliant Homepage Design, that you can download for free, and get inspiration on how to build your own blog to be more eye catching and effective.
  • WP Engine: This is an amazing hosting site, that I’m considering switching to. I’ve been happy enough with GoDaddy, no major complaints – but my site loads super slow. Benefits: Month to month contracts and no sign-up fees. Enjoy flexibility with WP Engine. I like that it’s a platform specifically for WordPress sites, so when I call them they’ll actually know how to help me, lol.
  • Freelance Writing: If you’re interested in branching out and doing more freelance writing, this is an amazing resource guide! Check out the  2013 Writer’s Market Deluxe Edition, which {right now, anyway} is 40% off on Amazon. Such a great help.
  • Online Courses: I am so in love with this site, and wish I’d found it a long time ago. It has really high standards on what they accept for courses {I know this, because I’m developing one to add there myself!} – and everything I’ve taken so far was well worth it. Here are a couple good ones: Easy DSLR Digital Photography for Beginners, to help you learn to use all of those great features on your camera. Or get the DSLR Advanced Course. Learn the basics in Adobe Photoshop for beginners. Learn iPhone Photography Tips & Secrets. And this is next up on my list – Cake Decorating for Fun & Profit.
  • Creative: This is a great course that starts soon – Build a Better Creative Business. It’s focused more on people who run an Etsy or other crafty type business – but there are some amazing people presenting, many of the topics would work for anyone, and since I am contemplating a future Etsy shop…. This sounds like a great program to me.

Networks to Join & Networking to Do

  • Project Eve: This sounds cool. I just joined today, so I can’t tell you much about it. But Project Eve is a network connecting women business owners with cool new resources, tips, information – and best of all, with each other! You can also join their blogger connection network too. {If you’re a member of either, I’d love to hear what you think of them – leave some comments…}
  • Mommy Mindset: This is a new network connecting bloggers and brands. They have tips and info, plus a form for bloggers to fill out to be connected with their opportunities.
  • SheSpeaks: Join the SheSpeaks blogger program. Just enter your details on the simple application form to join – and get access to great product reviews, compensated posts, social media promotions, and more.
  • Cupcakes: Yep… that’s right, cupcakes. If you have an awesome cupcake recipe to share, I’d love to feature it. I have a few plans in mind – a couple for the blog, and a couple for my freelance Frugal Living column. ALL that I will use is one photo, the name of the cupcake – and then link back to you. If you’re ok with that, leave your link here on Facebook: Cupcake round up.
  • Media.net: This is an ad network, partnered with places like Yahoo and Bing. You can fill out the application for an invite – but, after completing it, it does say that it’ll be a couple weeks before you’ll hear back, since they’re pretty backed up right now.

Good Reads

  • Go Viral: Want a cheat sheet for helping your blog posts go viral? {It’s amazing when they do, I have one bringing 10,000 page views a day right now!} – Get this free cheat sheet for making blog posts go viral, and headline hacks, and weekly updates with cool tips too.
  • Blogger Etiquette: I enjoyed this post, and it’s definitely something I’d love to have more people keep in mind. Mommy Bloggers – Remember your Etiquette. This talks about one specific example, but is relevant to so many other situations. As bloggers, we all have different reasons for blogging, goals, dreams, business models, etc. And we’re from different areas of the country, different backgrounds. We won’t always agree. But just because something is right to YOU, doesn’t mean it’s the only way to be right for a whole diverse group. Bottom line – play nice :)
