Quick background about me – I’ve been blogging for 3 years now, full time. I started this bloggy-adventure with the goal of it being a business – a way for me to make money from home while being here with my brand new baby. I have poured crazy amounts of time, effort, money, and heart into growing this site. I’ve read a zillion books, subscribe to a million email newsletters, follow a babillion sites – all just to keep growing, learning, and moving ahead. But, all that work has paid off { I was able to quadruple my traffic last year!} – since now The Mister works for me, and together we run this site, plus some other projects – together, and it allows us to both work from home. I’m extremely passionate about helping others do the same thing, so I hope that if you’re a newer blogger, these tips can help you ramp up your own business too! If you have questions, comments, ideas, or any other feedback – feel free to leave a comment on this post, tweet me using the #Blogathon2 hashtag, or post it to my Facebook wall. I’ll do my best to help! [Read more…]
“I don’t want to go viral – I want to set hearts on fire!” – Coco J. Ginger… When working on the web, having something you’ve created “go viral” is kind of like winning the lottery – most of it is luck, but you have more chances at getting lucky the more you play. And in 2013, I got lucky – An old post I’d written over a year before, explaining how I used the web to earn money from home after losing my job, went viral on Pinterest. {See it here: 10 Ways to Earn Money from Home.} I had no idea how powerful Pinterest could be until then, and have no idea still who pinned it to make it take off so well. But, while after 7 months of consistent pageviews, it’s settled back down again, it definitely showed me why it’s important to create good content – you never know what someone will find in your archives and fall in love with! So, as we roll into 2014, I took a hard look at my statistics in Google Analytics, to determine just what worked well this year, what didn’t, and how to hopefully double my traffic again in this new year!
What’s weird but true about you? On December 4th, National Geographic is encouraging everyone to share via social media some weird but true facts and photos about you, or your world – using the hashtag #WeirdWednesday! To celebrate all of this fun weirdness, we’re hosting a super cool Twitter party, where you can get more eyes on your weirdness. Because really – the only people who aren’t weird are the ones you don’t know enough about, right? :)
‘Tis the season for… Stress? Well, for some people, there’s more stress than sparkles during the holidays. Which I hate find a sad thing, since Christmas is my very-most-amazingly-super-duper favorite time of the year. Even with the craziness, it fills me with serious happiness. And now that I have a little one to share it with me – and at 3 years-old this year, she’s really big enough to appreciate it all – it’s even better. But, since I know not everyone is able to easily manage the stress of the holiday rush, I’m super excited to be sharing tips and tricks to help – during an amazing Twitter party happening on December 4, at 1p ET / 12p CT / 10a PT. Keep reading to learn more, RSVP, and be eligible to win some awesome prizes!
