As some of you may remember, as part of my big home makeover project we’ve been working on, I’ve been in the process of redoing our Master Bedroom over the past few months. We bought a new rug, built a closet, got a new TV and mount for the wall, painted the whole room, and even bought all new bedroom furniture too. And what’s a new bed without a new mattress, right? I mean, it doesn’t matter if the room looks good if the bed isn’t comfy. Now, after getting over the amazement of how such a big, fluffy, plush mattress could be squeezed up into such a small package – I have to admit it, I started feeling a little skeptical. I mean, it was seriously heaven when I laid down on it for the first time. Like, love-love-love. But I wondered… since it’s just foam, with no springs or anything inside, wouldn’t it just kind of squish down in places after awhile? Would it really hold up, and still form perfectly to me each time I laid down? Or would it flatten out after time?
Well, I’m here to tell ya – after 3 months, this 12″ Cayman Gel Memory Foam is still perfection. And it has a LOT of weight on it – I share this queen sized bed with the Mister, my toddler, and a fluffy Shih-Tzu dog who thinks he’ll die if he doesn’t sleep at my feet. One of the things I loved about it right away was the fact that it was so BIG. It makes the bed look so much better than the old one did – because it’s taller and plusher. And the memory foam adjusts to your body, so it evenly distributes weight, which helps to relive pressure points, making you feel so much better in the morning. First of all – I know this isn’t a great photo :) But, see how this fitted sheet barely covers the mattress? That shows you that it definitely hasn’t flattened out one.single.bit since we got it months ago. I definitely need to find new sheets with deeper side pockets to fully cover this bad boy… I’d put it off at first, thinking it would smush down a bit – but clearly, it is staying this fluffy and plush.
And – you don’t even need to cover it with a sheet. It comes enclosed in a super duper soft cover that zips off to be cleaned. {It’s a Rayon/Viscose/Poly blend fabric, is allergen-resistant, and helps the bed feel just a little firmer and supportive. It even has a non-skid surface on the bottom, to keep it in place.} And then underneath that is a mattress that’s a proprietary combo of Nature’s Sleep Visco Memory Foam and AGT Gel Memory Foam. What does that mean? Well, it means that it rocks :) It even has these little gel spheres inside the memory foam, that help adjust to your body temperature at night, to keep you cool. Which is amazing for someone like me who gets way too hot at night. For reals.
Don’t just take my word for it – listen to the little girl tell it. She says, “It’s the BEST.BED.EVER!” {She watches a lot of the movie Tangled, lol.} That’s Abby, my three year old little sunshine. She has her own big girl bed, but refuses to sleep anywhere except right in between the Mister and I. But, as anyone who has slept next to a toddler and got kicked in the head during the night knows, I’m hoping to transition her to her own bed soon. Very soon… Lol. But, it’s an even tougher job to get her to sleep anywhere else after she’s known the joy of sleeping on our awesome memory foam mattress.
