Ice Cream Tastes Like Happiness…

This post is brought to you by Dreyer’s and The Motherhood. I was provided with product coupons and compensated for my time, but all opinions are mine.

“You can’t buy happiness, but you can buy ice cream. And that’s kind of the same thing.” – Unknown… There are a few things in life that truly bring me happiness: My family. My friends. Anything sparkly. And ice cream. Good ice cream brings a smile to your face, no matter what type of day you’ve had. And whether you eat it right out of the carton, or fancy it up with sprinkles and syrups, having the best ingredients and flavor combos is a must.

Cool ice cream flavors

“Ice cream is happiness condensed.” – Jessi Lane Adams

I love all types of ice cream – from fruity sherbets to ooey gooey chocolate concoctions. And I fancy myself a bit of an ice cream connoisseur. I’m always on the look out for cool new combinations to try out, so I was super, crazy, over-the-top excited to hear that one of my favorite brands, Dreyer’s, had come out with some new Limited Edition flavors to celebrate National Ice Cream Month.

My mouth was watering just reading about them…

Take the Cake:  Yellow cake-flavored light ice cream with a frosting swirl and multi-colored sprinkles. Sunny Salted Caramel Pretzel: Salty, sweet and oh so scrumptious. Vanilla ice cream with a salted caramel swirl and pretzel pieces. 3 Stripes You’re Out: America’s Favorite Pastime has a new favorite flavor! Vanilla Ice Cream with Mixed Blueberry and Strawberry Swirls. And – pictured above – German Chocolate Cake Spectacular!:  If you froze a German Chocolate Cake and then exploded it into a carton of chocolate ice cream, you’d end up with this amazing limited edition flavor. Chocolate ice cream with a caramel coconut swirl and brownie pieces. Heartbreakingly, I couldn’t find the first 3 at my Walmart {it was one of those days where they were stocking shelves, and there were loads of empty spaces.} But I’ll be trying them soon, and will give you an update once I’ve tried them all. Because, ohmyheck – the German Chocolate Cake Spectacular seriously does taste like you’re eating cake from a high-end bakery, but in ice cream form. To.Die.For. No joke.

Easy way to serve ice cream at birthday parties

The Easiest Way to Serve Ice Cream at Birthday Parties

We recently celebrated a BIG double-birthday party for my little girl, and my nephew. I did it half Princess Party, and half in a Jungle Animal theme. I was expected over 50 people, so I needed a LOT of ice cream, and a super simple way to serve it all when it’s 105 degrees outside. My secret? Prep ahead of time by putting ice cream scoops into cupcake cups! You can cover it with a layer of plastic wrap, and keep it in the freezer until party time. Then, when you’re ready to serve you just grab the trays and let the kiddos choose their favorite, easy peasy. It’s easy, and you can do it quickly so that you don’t end up with a melty mess. I mean, if you’ve got ice cream as amazing as Dreyer’s {I picked up a few other non-Limited Edition flavors too} – you don’t want to waste a single bite by letting it melt and drip off of the plate, right?

Dreyer's Ice Cream at birthday parties

Dreyer’s is giving people a reason to smile

This is my nephew, enjoying the Dreyer’s Limited Edition German Chocolate Cake Spectacular ice cream with his birthday cake. See that smile? That’s what good ice cream will do to ya :) And, since Dreyer’s clearly knows a lot about making people smile, they’ve partnered with one of my favorite groups – Operation Smile – to make possible 500 reconstructive surgeries for children around the globe suffering from cleft lip, cleft palate and other facial deformities. They’ll donate up to $125,000 to Operation Smile this year. {The campaign runs through September 31, 2013.}

National Ice Cream Month

They’re making it easy to help!
