That’s right… The deadline for filing your taxes this year has been extended by THREE more days!! Read why:
“The bonus days come thanks to Emancipation Day, a little-known Washington, D.C., holiday that falls on Sat., April 16, but it is observed in D.C. on Fri., April 15.”
And since the filing deadline can’t fall on a weekend, it gets extended until Monday! So, if you are a HUGE procrastinator, you have a chance to still get them in on time :)
What I recommend is to try each of these sites, and see who gives you the biggest refund. You can complete all of the steps and see the final refund amount, but you DON’T have to submit it yet. You can check the others, and then decide which one to go back and finish and submit. Nice, right?
If you DO still need to get those taxes done, here are a few places that can help you get them done last minute:
Turbo Tax is my VERY favorite way to do taxes!! It is so stinkin’ easy to use, it walks you though every single step, and helps you easily find all of your deductions. I have gotten way bigger tax refunds since I stared using Turbo Tax then I ever got on my own. It is the only place that I use now!
Some other options that I haven’t tried, but have heard great things about:
Totally free. Check it out and see what you think!
Also, H&R Block has a FREE tax preparation option you can check out. My mom has done her taxes with them for years and has been really happy with them.
If you know of any other FREE options to get your taxes done this weekend, post them in the comments to help out any last minute filers!!
Don’t put it off… Seriously, you would be surprised at how simple it can be to do them yourself online. And remember: You can go through the whole process on a site, see what the refund amount will be, and then just save it to come back. You don’t have to do the final submit until you’re ready to. So check them out, and get it done :)
