Kids Clothing Swap: How ThreadUp Works

Have you heard of ThreadUp?

I have used ThreadUp a few times now, and I can tell you… It is SUCH a great way to get kids clothes really cheap. Plus, it helps you find a new home for the stuff that your own kids have outgrown. I love trading in stuff that Abby has hardly worn for things that she really needs right now!

Here is how it works:

You get your first box free, to try it out. You browse the “Boxes” that other members have posted. Some include pictures, some link to pics on their Facebook, but all include a detailed description of all of the items included in the box. There are usually about 10-15 items in each box.

You get the box free, but you do pay shipping, about $10. Then the box is sent to you, and you have a bunch of gently worn, but new to you, clothes and accessories!

To continue swapping, you have to participate too! You just click the “request boxes” button, and they’ll send you out a bunch of shipping boxes. You put together a few boxes, and post the details on the site. When someone wants to buy your box (always only $5 a box) THEY pay the shipping, and you simply print out a shipping label, attach it, and have it picked up! Easy peasy. Every box you swap out gives you a credit to pick another new box!

Sounds cool, right?

I love this. My little girl had so many really cute baby outfits that she never even got to wear, so this was a great way to trade them in for stuff that she needs now! Check it out, sign up for a FREE account, and go check out the selection. I think you’ll be a fan too.

Daily Tips for Frugal Living + Giveaways

Have you heard of LearnVest yet?

“We want to help you live a richer life.
We aim to do this by providing unbiased financial information to all women so that they can make the best financial decisions possible.”

Here’s a little story about how LearnVest came to be:

“It was Spring of 2006, and Harvard Senior, Alexa von Tobel, was sitting around a table with a group of friends, discussing how ridiculous it was she had never had a single class on personal finance. The irony was Alexa was going to work as a trader at a Morgan Stanley’s internal hedge fund and had just deferred Harvard Business School for two years. Alexa spent the next twelve months researching the topic and continuously found herself dissatisfied with what was readily available. Most of the personal finance resources rarely started with the basics and none of them spoke directly to her.

In December of 2008, Alexa took a leave of absence from Harvard Business School to pursue her dream of creating an online platform to help women everywhere gain control of their finances. In September 2009, LearnVest closed $1.1 million in venture and angel funding and was selected as one of the 50 most promising start-up companies by TechCrunch.”

I use so many of the tools available on LearnVest… I love the tips in the daily emails, because most of them really are relevant to me. I use a lot of the tools in the “Money Tuneup” section to help me budget and plan, and the tips in the “Living Frugally” section are great.

This is a finance site that is actually fun and interesting. Like today, for Earth Day, you can go check it out and find a ton of discounts exclusively for LearnVest members, on tons of affordable “green” fashions. PLUS, they are GIVING AWAY a bunch of fun fashions too!

I love this site, and wanted to share it with you guys too! I totally recommend that you sign up for their free daily emails. You’ll learn so much from their quick email tips, and have access to all of their available tools too!

Free Coupon E-Course Available Now!

Free Coupon E Course

Check out the new FREE Coupon E-Course!

I signed up for this last week, and am really happy with it so far. Great information for beginners, and some new tips that I didn’t know yet. Plus, they have tons of other great resources that you use on their site too.

Read more:

This FREE couponing e-course will teach you to get hundreds of dollars a month in free household items, food, and toiletries. Click Here to sign up today and start saving!

They’re not saying that you will get all of your products for free, but that you could have savings of hundreds of dollars a month. At first that sounded really unreasonable to me, but then I thought about my own savings already… I go grocery shopping once every week and a half usually, and save around $30-$40 per trip.

So I guess that these coupon savings really do add up quickly! I’d never thought about it as saving “hundreds of dollars”, but I do save around $100 bucks a month. That realization made me pretty proud of myself! :)

I know that if I take the time to learn a little more, and start using more of the store match-ups, I can save even more. So I am excited to be a part of this e-course. Check it out, and let me know if it helps you out with your savings too!

And for more coupon savings, check out my Super Coupon Sunday resource in this post. Plus, I’m looking for people who would be interested in doing a guest post on couponing tips for a new series I’d like to start in a couple of weeks. Let me know in the comments of via email if you are intersted!
