Blogging Tips: Getting Started with Integrate.com

Affiliate Marketing: Integrate.com

When you want to start earning an income with your blog, the first step for most people is to get started with Affiliate Marketing. {To learn more about the basics of Affiliate Marketing, read Earning an Income with Your Blog} And many of us get started with the same affiliates, like Escalate Media, MySavings Media, and Logical Media. All three of these companies are really similar – once you learn how to use one site, you can easily use the others. But logging into Integrate for the first time can be a bit intimidating! It’s VERY different than most of the other affiliate companies that I’ve worked with in the past – but once you learn the basics, you’ll see that those differences are what make it awesome.

Getting Started: Your Integrate Dashboard

If you’re not signed up with Integrate.com yet, you can get started here – Integrate Sign Up. Go on and get started – I’ll wait.

Ok, now that we’re all members – Let’s log in! You’ll find the log-in button on the top right side; there are options to log-in as a Buyer or a Seller – Buyers are companies that are paying for campaigns, Sellers are you – people who are sharing those campaigns for earnings. Now you’re in your Dashboard, which is the most important part of the site for you, and the main thing that you need to learn about. There is a lot of info on Integrate, but I’m only going to cover the basics of what you need to start earning, deal? If you want to learn more, contact your affiliate manager {find their contact info on the bottom portion of your Dashboard}, or read the FAQ page.

Messaging:

This is pretty obvious – these are your messages. Click Notifications to see a list of campaigns. Click a campaign, and you’ll see some options pop up – “View Campaign” shows you more info about that offer. “View Profile” shows you info about that company. Then you have “Agree” and “Counter” – this is where you can agree to accept that campaign, or counter by asking for a higher payout. Or, just remove it altogether if it’s not something you’ll run. Sometimes you’ll also see unread messages in this tab – these are from companies running campaigns, sharing info or asking you a question.

Campaigns:

This is the most important tab. Click it to see your Active, Pending, and Inactive campaigns. When you sign up at Integrate, you’ll give some info about your blog. Integrate then uses this info to automatically match you with campaigns that they think you’ll do well with – these will show up in your Active Campaigns. Click on a campaign name to see the Payout {how much you’ll earn per click or conversion}, your allocation {the max you’re allowed to paid for}, and the description. On the left you’ll see a link for campaign creatives – this is where you can find banner codes to place on your site. Pending campaigns are offers that are awaiting approval – Click “Start Negotiations” to make a deal on price and allocation with the Buyer, so you can start running those campaigns.

Helpful Tip: Once you are matched with a campaign, you have 48 hours to either accept it or begin negotiation with the Buyer. If you do not take some sort of action within 48 hours, the match will expire.

You can also Browse Campaigns – this is where you find new campaigns to run in addition to the ones that have been automatically matched to you. If you find something that you like, click the Request box, and enter the info you want to send to the Buyer – how much you want to earn, and the allocation – which means, how many leads do you think you’ll send their way? Leave a personal message if you want, and send it. If they accept it, you’ll see it soon in your active campaigns!

Accounting:

You can click this tab to see your monthly statements, to view your earnings. You can also view your earnings by going back to your main Dashboard, and checking out the Quick Stats chart – The first box lets you view by clicks, conversions, or earnings, and the second box lets you view by month, week, or day.

Campaign Fulfillment:

This is another fun tool – the little pie chart on your dashboard. It gives you a visual of what percent of your earnings are coming from each offer that you’re running. I love it.

Great Campaigns to Run:

I’ve had a few people ask me which campaigns I’ve had success with so far, so here are a few you can search for if you’re having trouble finding campaigns that you like:

  • CID: 6965, Baby to Bee – $1.32 per conversion
  • CID: 6531, Bake Pops – $7.82 per conversion
  • CID: 5782, HomeSav – $2.04 per conversion
  • CID: 4498 Disney Movie Club – $16.02 per conversion
  • CID: 6632, Food on the Table – .75 per conversion
  • CID: 5995, Fooz Kids – $18 per conversion

Negotiations:

This is one of the really cool features that sets Integrate apart from other affiliate companies – you can negotiate for higher payouts! If you’re doing well with a campaign, you can ask the Buyer for a higher payout, since you’re driving them so much traffic. Or, if they’ve only given you a small allocation, and you’re bringing way more traffic than that – ask them to give you a higher allocation! You have to be reasonable, and have respect for the Buyers budgets – but it’s very cool to have that ability to contact them. Integrate is more of the “middle man” – they aren’t paying us, they’re connecting us with Buyers who want to pay us, collecting those payments, and then lumping it together into one check for us.

More questions?

If you have any questions that I didn’t cover, feel free to leave a comment, and I’ll do my best to answer you! If you’ve signed up with Integrate, and it’s been more than a week or two, and you haven’t heard anything yet, email me and I can forward your info to someone to help you out. And if you’re already using Integrate, I highly recommend that you schedule a quick call with your account manager, and they’ll walk you through it all. I think once you get the hang of it, you’ll LOVE it as much as I do!

Get your Business ready for the Holidays – Save over $50 too!

Who Loves Vistaprint?

I do, I do!! I use Vistaprint for a huge order every few months, and have always been super happy with the service, the quality, and especially the PRICE. You really can’t beat the value you get with Vistaprint – seriously. I get almost everything I need for my blog and business, plus fun gifts and personal stuff too.

Why do they give away so much stuff for FREE?

While Vistaprint has tons of great options for gifts, personal use, and office supplies – they are most focused on business owners. They’re hoping that by letting you try out a bunch of their products for free, you’ll love ’em enough to keep coming back for all of your small business needs. And for me, it sure worked!

What can you get free?

Right now there are a ton of great free options! You can get cute little mini-photo books like these – and there are a bunch of really nice design options. I used these as part of Christmas gifts for the grandparents last year. Really nice. You can also get all of this for free right now too:

  • One Wall Calendar – fully personalized with your own family photos and dates.
  • 250 custom designed business cards – including your company logo!
  • 10 Free Premium 4×8 Invitations – great for any holiday entertaining, or even make them as a Thank You style card instead!
  • 1 Free Custom Cotton Tote Bag – your choice of design and text.
  • 1 Free T-Shirt with your own photos and text.
  • Plus the photo books!

Why this is a great time to order:

Here’s how it works – all of the above items are totally FREE, you click here to visit Vistaprint.com, and start creating all of your fun free items. All you pay is shipping and handling on each one, which ranges from $4-6 bucks on each item. If you only want a couple of things, this is an amazing deal – how can you NOT love a full set of 250 business cards for $5 bucks? Or how about a T-shirt or tote bag customized with pic’s of the kids to sent to Grandma? And if you’re a business owner, you need to get ready for holiday promotions by stocking up on stickers, cards, brochures and more right now!

How to get even MORE value…

Here’s where the REAL value comes in… If you ordered all 6 free items, you’d pay about $30 bucks total for your shipping and processing fees. Still a totally great value for everything that you get, right? BUT – right now, Vistaprint has a deal – Spend $50 bucks or more and get FREE shipping! What does that mean? That means instead of paying $30 in shipping for all of this great stuff, you can STILL get it all, PLUS pick out $50 in ADDITIONAL merchandise, for only $20 bucks more!! When you add the value of the free items, plus the free shipping, you’re paying about $50 bucks for over $120 in merchandise!

There is so much fun stuff to choose from:

  • Car door magnets to advertise your business
  • Mugs and travel cups
  • Photo Mouse Pads like mine above
  • Holiday Cards
  • Christmas Ornaments with your family photos
  • Notebooks – these can be customized any way you like, with calendars inside, back cover graphics, text, etc. One of my favorites!
  • Keychains, lawn signs, banners, networking stickers, and more to boost your business
  • Photo Post-it Style notepads, greeting cards, birth announcements, and other fun stuff!

Love it!

My old business cards you see in the first picture have my old logo – so I’m putting together a HUGE new order with my new info! I want to add my Discovery Toys business info too. I’m excited to get new cards – and I’m getting a tote bag with my logo, to promote while I run errands. I’ll also get a rubber stamp, tons of cool logo pens, the car door magnet and more – and I’m totally having fun designing Christmas ornaments!

Best Business Books for Creative Thinkers

I wanted to share a few of my recent favorite business books with you guys. I’m always looking for great books to teach me new tips, new ways to think, and help me really boost my skills to the next level. And, I’m definitely a creative type, so old-school business books just bore me. Yes, I’ve read some, and there is some awesome information, but I like books that encourage me to think outside of the box, and include actionable steps that I can take to be more successful. Read on…

My Picks for Best Business Books for Creative Thinkers:

The Creative Business Idea Book:

The Creative Business Book

The Creative Business Idea Book: Ten Years of Breakthrough Thinking is a spendy book – Right now, it’s $50 bucks for the hardcover edition. But it looks uh-MAY-zing. I saw it today on Klout.com – you can possibly get it for FREE if your Klout score is above 45, and you are influential in these topics: Advertising, Copywriting, Creativity, Digital Photography, Journalism, Marketing, Public Relations. It talks about how traditional advertising is pretty much over, and shares the stories of how campaigns like the Dos Equis’ Most Interesting Man in the World, Evian Roller Babies, and other memorable ad’s came to be. Love it!

The Creative Entrepreneur:

The Creative Entrepreneur: A DIY Visual Guidebook for Making Business Ideas Real – This is SUCH a fun book! There is so much great art on all of the pages, and it totally inspires and motivates me! The concepts are simple to follow, and lead you step-by-step to take your big ideas to real results. I’m a visual learner, and have a desk covered in notebooks with lists, drawings, scribbles, post-it’s – my mom says it reminds her of that movie a Beautiful Mind, lol. But I love the idea of using creative journals to think and plan out a business idea. So my style.

IdeaSelling:

Idea Selling BookIdeaSelling: Successfully Pitch Your Creative Ideas to Bosses, Clients & other Decision Makers – I just ordered this, and am beyond excited to get it! It’s all about learning how to do more than just “tell” people about your ideas, you need to “sell” them on your ideas! I’ve had years of experience in sales, but am always interested in learning more. And as a blogger, it’s very important to learn how to pitch companies, partners, and even other bloggers – if you have a great idea, you don’t want it to fail just because you didn’t know how to get people excited about it, right? The reviews all say that the techniques are easy to start implementing, and will help you improve right away. I’ll share a full review when I get done reading it!

Gamestorming:

Gamestorming Book

Gamestorming: A Playbook for Innovators, Rulebreakers, and Changemakers – This is something that I would LOVE to have had when I was still working in sales management! Getting people working together in a non-traditional way, by playing a game, is a much more effective way to teach new skills and come up with new ideas! “This book includes more than 80 games to help you break down barriers, communicate better, and generate new ideas, insights, and strategies. It contains a unique collection of games that encourage engagement and creativity while bringing more structure and clarity to the workplace.”

The Idea Hunter:

The Idea Hunter Book

The Idea Hunter: How to Find the Best Ideas and Make them Happen – This book starts with a simple step, “Know your gig. In other words, decide what you’re all about as a professional, and where you want to be heading in your career and projects. Without a concrete sense of purpose and goals, you won’t know what you’re looking for.” And continues until the end with “Focus on ‘Try-ability.’ Make it easy for people to try out your idea, before buying into it. Think like Apple, which lets people listen to 30-second snippets of music on iTunes before they buy a track or CD. Customers and colleagues are far more likely to sign on if they’re less worried about making a decision they’ll come to regret.” I love a book with “actions” to take, instead of just vague advice!

Remember to use Swagbucks to earn FREE Amazon Gift Cards, then you can get these great books for free. Swagbucks is one of the EASIEST ways to earn freebies online – and is how I buy all of my Amazon goodies!

What do you think?

Have any of you read any of these books already? If so, what did you think? Share your review in the comments, so other readers can benefit from your feedback too! And if you have some favorite books that have helped YOU in your business, please tell me about them! I might feature them in the next post, and mention that you recommend them!

Get Ready for a DRAMATIC Change to Facebook

New Facebook Image

Cha-Cha-Changes are Coming to Facebook…

  • I first read about the new changes coming to Facebook in a couple of weeks on Six in the Nest’s new article- Holy Smokes… More Facebook Changes. That’s where this picture came from- it’s an example of what your new Facebook page will soon look like.
  • I wondered if this was a “possible” type of change, something that they were thinking about, just testing- or if this was a sure thing. So, I went to the Facebook blog, and sure enough, in a few weeks we’ll all start seeing ANOTHER new, and dramatically different, Facebook page when we log-in.

It’s called Timeline, and you can see more of how it works here:

This is BIG deal

One of my favorite social media news sites- (the always amazing Mashable.com) states, “I have seen what Facebook is launching on Thursday, and it’s going to change the world of social media. And while I won’t talk about the mind-boggling things Facebook will be launching, I will say this: The Facebook you know and (don’t) love will be forever transformed.” Read more of how to Prepare for the New Facebook, or if you’re brave, How to Enable the New Facebook Timeline Now.

You can also check out a great explanation, including a really helpful set of screenshots from someone who is already using the new Timeline page- What to Expect from the New Timeline Change on Facebook.

What do you think?

  • Honestly, I don’t like it. I say- slow your roll Facebook. You’re beautiful just the way you are. Please- don’t change, again, just for the sake of change.
  • Of course Facebook needs to update often, and evolve- all technology has to change constantly to stay relevant. BUT- this seems to be changing Facebook into something totally different than what it is now. If you have a game-changing product, that everyone uses, why would you make it into something else? It might turn out to be an amazing change, but it seems like a huge risk.
  • This isn’t an “upgrade”, this is like buying your favorite ham sandwich at the deli and finding out it’s now a tuna melt. It’s the same idea, but a totally different product.
  • That said- I’m totally open-minded about it {even though it sure doesn’t sound that way, lol}- and am really hoping I like it. A few friends I’ve talked to who are developers and have made the switch already are really lovin’ it. *Fingers crossed*

Helping you find what’s Important

On the Facebook blog it says, “The way your profile works today, 99% of the stories you share vanish.” They want to make it easier to ignore all of the “I totally woke up too early today. I hate Mondays” type of posts that clutter your stream. But um, if all of my random daily posts will disappear, and only major events will show up…. correct me if I’m wrong- but THAT’S making 99% of my posts disappear, right? And if I only wanted to know major events in my friends lives, I could take a peek at their photo albums to see weddings, babies, and graduations.

Do you use Facebook for your Business?

No word yet on how these major new changes will affect Pages. I know that for many bloggers like myself, a large majority of our traffic comes from the interaction and community that we’ve built on our Facebook pages- I’ve already seen a dramatic drop in traffic after the last Facebook update a week ago, since many people no longer see my posts.

It’s hard to imagine how a business page would make sense with this new Timeline layout, but I’m hoping that Facebook will really consider the needs of business owners, and ensure that Facebook can still be as useful to us as it is now.

My bet is that Timeline will roll out to personal pages first, and business pages later on- that seems to be how most of the Facebook changes have worked in the past. I’ve heard from many designers who are halting their Facebook projects for small business clients until the changes are completed, to fully understand what this will mean for business pages.

I’d love to hear from you…

Share some comments- Love? Hate? Indifferent? Tell me what you think about the new Timeline, and whether you believe that it will really change Facebook as dramatically as people are saying.
