Seattle Art Museum Summer Camp

If you’re in the Seattle area, then you know that the Seattle Art Museum is a must-see place for families. We’ve been several times when we visit that side of the state – {we’re about 2 1/2 hours from Seattle, but head over often, for Abby’s trips to Seattle Children’s Hospital or to visit grandpa.} And now, they’ve got some serious fun planned for your kiddos this summer – check it out:

Do You Make Friends at Airports Too? – #ConnectingFlights

“A good traveler has no fixed plans, and is not intent on arriving.”Lao Tzu… We didn’t take vacations when I was a kid. We were pretty poor, so it just wasn’t something that was a priority. As I moved into my early twenties, travel sounded exciting – but seemed so out of reach, since it was something that I’d never done. {I mean, I live here in Washington state, but had never been to the beach – even though the Oregon coastline is filled with beautiful places. And I’ve still never visited my northern neighbor, Canada!} The last time I’d flown was 10 years earlier, on a short trip to Nevada with my mom. Until the past year… I’ve flown to 6 different states in the last year! Here are a few of my faves…

How to Save 80% on Family Travel & Resort Packages

Amazing deal on Mexico Resort Package – My family was didn’t have a lot of extra money when I was growing up, so big vacations were out of the question. While I totally enjoyed our week-long camping trip and family reunion every summer, I never realized how much I was missing until I started traveling as an adult. Seeing new places and faces totally opens up your eyes, and helps you put your life in perspective – There is SUCH a big world out there! So, while our family budget it pretty tight too, I do make a big priority to find affordable ways to travel. And this amazing trip that I found today is just too good to pass up – and I am super excited to share it with you too….

Mexico resort deal

For a little more than the cost of a Kindle Fire, your family can spend 4 nights at the Los Cabos Gold Resort, get a $100 credit good towards food and drinks during your stay, and 50% ALL rounds of gold while you’re there. I thought, “No way, there must be a catch….” But I read the fine print for you, and there is no catch. Here are a few details:

  • You’re only allowed to purchase up to 7 vouchers, but they can ALL be used consecutively. You may also purchase up to 7 vouchers as gifts.
  • May redeem beginning 5/29/12,  and must be used by the end of this year – and since this is such an extreme discount, the package deal cannot be combined with any other resort offers or coupons.
  • 14% room tax is not included and will be collected upon booking, but this is pretty common at big resorts like this one.
  • Offer is for a 1 bedroom villa which sleeps 4 people. If you have a bigger family, upgrades are available as follows: 2 bedroom (sleeps 6) for 4 nights, $100 plus tax total. 3 bedrooms (sleeps 10) for 4 nights $279 plus tax total. That is a seriously amazing deal on upgrades.

See? No catch. And, this deal is offered through a company that I have shopped with many times – Sharing Spree. What makes this awesome deal even BETTER? Every purchase of this Mexican Resort Package Deal means another donation to Friends of the Children, in King County, Washington. “Friends of the Children is a pioneer mentoring program based on the principle that the most vulnerable children can become healthy, productive adults with a consistent, caring adult in their lives.”

Summer Travel Tips: Central New Jersey #GoCentralJersey

This is the first in my series of great locations to visit this with your family this summer. I’ve also got upcoming posts on cool things to see and do in Portland, Oregon, North Carolina, New York City – and of course my homeland here in Washington state! But today, I want to share a little bit about Central New Jersey – Home to some of my best buddies from my high school days.

Travel Resources for Central New Jersey

Use these links to find the best resources for planning your trip. I’m planning a visit to the area at the end of the year, and used these to find the perfect hotel that’s close enough to downtown dining and and nightclubs, decided that I really want to visit the Six Flags in Jackson, and was able to check out lots of other local restaurants, malls, and cool places. That’s SO much easier than trying to find places to eat and visit once you get to a new town, right?

  1. Hotel Information: Find the best hotels to stay in, with maps to see what attractions they’re close to, the amenities included in your stay – and you can even book your trip using the on-site travel portal.
  2. Sweet Deals: Learn about new promotions and cool offers that you can plan now, and take advantage of when traveling. This is updated often, so check back for the best new deals.
  3. Dining and Nightlife: Check out the list of restaurants to find options that are family friendly and in your price range – then find a couple of cool date night options for a fun evening out afterwards.
  4. Events: There is always something new and fun to check out in the Central New Jersey area! Each month they update their calendar of events, so you can plan your trip to hit the best local events during your visit.
  5. Shopping: This is one of the most important parts of visiting a new city, right? Find out where the best malls and boutiques are, to make sure you get a chance to stop by them all while you’re in the area.
  6. Outdoor Recreation: If you’re looking for fun in the sun, this list will give you info some great parks, sports centers, water parks and more!

If you’re planning a trip to Central New Jersey this year, these links will help you a ton in setting up your plans. And if you’re still deciding where to go this summer, maybe you’ll find your perfect destination on one of the lists too.

Where are YOU traveling this year? Share your fun vacation plans in the comments…
