How to Bring Home a Little Elf Magic…

I admit it. I’m one of those moms who totally get into the spirit of Christmas. We decorate like crazy – We have more decorations on the outside of the house than anyone in the whole neighborhood, and more decor inside the house than anyone I know. And I totally love traditions that remind me of all the magic the holiday held for me as a little girl – writing letters to Santa, filling stockings on Christmas eve, watching sappy old holiday movies as a family. And one new tradition we started last year that is definitely a keeper is to bring some Elf Magic to our lives during the month of December.

Elf Magic is the original – the first Elf tradition to be introduced and sold as a complete set. And what I like best is that unlike some of other elf traditions out there, that use other elf figures – Elf Magic really focuses on your child bonding with their Elf. In some other traditions the story is that the elf loses their magic if your child touches him, or that the elf is watching to report bad behavior to Santa. I love the way they put it…

Halloween Jokes for Kids

Just Joking is a new, totally free app for kids from National Geographic Kids. It’s super fun – it’s filled with fun animal facts, mixed with silly jokes and surprises. It mixes in educational aspects with knock-knock jokes, tongue twisters, riddles and more. The kids love the silliness of it. I love that it keeps them occupied in the car or waiting in lines – and that it’s clean fun. It’s a free app – check it out here: Just Joking Free App. And there are bonus joke packs you can buy later for less than a buck a piece too. So, to give you an idea of how much fun it is, I’ve got a list of Halloween-themed jokes for kids.

Check out the selection of jokes from the app, tell ’em to the kids today, and tweet your favorites. I’ve always loved silly kids jokes like this – I giggle at the jokes on Popsicle sticks, and laugh out loud at really cheesy jokes on Laffy Taffy wrappers, so this app is right up my alley :) And as an Ambassador for National Geographic Kids this year, I obviously am a big fan of pretty much everything they put out there – always perfectly designed to appeal to the kids in our house. How to DIY Simple Kid’s Halloween Costumes

Are you a fan of PBS? I am. Some of our favorite shows are on PBS Kids – like Calliou, Super Why, Dinosaur Train, and everyone’s childhood fave, Sesame Street. And a new cartoon we recently have gotten hooked on is Word Girl. Which is why I totally loved this DIY Halloween costume video showing you how to turn simple items into adorably frugal kid’s Halloween costume – WordGirl, the beloved superhero from the show. “If everything seems under control, you’re not going fast enough.” – Mario Andretti…. We’re a racing family in here in my house. I have so many great memories of going to the races with my dad at our local speedway when I was a little girl. My uncle drove a race car there for years too. And now, my Mister has been driving race cars there too for years. One of his best friends even got a job recently over in North Carolina, working for some big-time racers.
