This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of dio for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.
You guys know that I’m a total social media junkie, right? I use Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Tumblr, Foursquare, LinkedIn, Google+, Pinterest {oh, my love of Pinterest…} I even have a profile on the “New MySpace.” I love to be a part of any new social type of site – to learn, to connect with new people, to share, and to have fun. So, when Social Spark introduced me to a new site called dio, I was super intrigued, and ready to jump in and see what it was all about.
Welcome to Dio!
So, that gave you a bit of an idea of what dio is… But not enough. So, I’m here to share my experience of getting started with it! First of all – It does have a bit of a learning curve. I was super confused when I first tried to get started – But what helped the most was just checking out some of the other “Places” that other users have posted. You can search by editors picks, most popular, and more. Once you “walk through” a place, you’ll understand what it’s all about MUCH better! So – to help you get started, I’ll share MY first room :)
Wander through new places in Dio Rooms
This Place is to share my Master Bedroom DIY Makeover Project. We’re in the middle of totally re-doing our space here at home, and I have a whole Pinterest board filled with cool plans, products, and ideas. So – my main “Room” shares the basics – the room that was the inspiration behind the project, plus the new furniture set we bought, and the bedding options I have.
- Next, I have more “rooms” that branch off from that one, where you can see my Master Bathroom ideas, the cool DIY projects that we’re working on, or the color story ideas that I’m trying to choose from – either a touch of pale yellow, a pop of bright pink, a sea of soothing grey, or some really bold black wood.
- Each new room is filled with “objects” – things that I’ve added that make sense in the room. So, in the DIY Projects room, you’ll find objects like a cool candle holder made from dollar store mirrors, or a tutorial on how to paint your cabinets.
- As you walk around between rooms, there might be things to discuss, objects to pick up and check out, or other “actions” to take. That makes the whole thing really cool and interactive. I can already think of SO many fun ideas for using this! {Follow me once you get there – Meagan Paullin.}
What else could you use dio for?
Here’s an idea I’m SUPER excited about trying when I have a little time this weekend… I want to create “Places” that feature cool events that happen in our lives, so we can share with Abby’s grandpa who lives far away. Imagine a birthday party – I could make a room filled with all of the presents that Abby got, and tell grandpa who they came from, and what Abby’s reaction to each one was. Then he could wander to another room to see the cake – I could add a video of her blowing out the candles, and photos of the big mess after she dives in to her “smash cake,” The options are endless… Use it to promote your blog or business, to share favorite family memories, as a digital scrapbook of sorts, anything goes!

The sharing your daughters birthday day with relatives that aren’t able to attend caught my attention. ALL of my family lives back in NY and have never even met my daughter :-( but through social networking and technology like this site they are still able to have a relationship with my munchkins :-)
It’s kinda hard to envision, so I’m thinking this is one of those things you just have to dive in and play with to figure out!
I’m gonna give dio a try when I have at least a half an hour to set it up. I’ve heard that it’s not the easiest site to use and I wanna make sure I have enough time to work my way through it. I really need something like this, because I’m not really good at putting a room together by site. Hoping it will be a good tool for me. I’m a bit of a social media junkie myself.
