How to Find Your Own Natural Beauty… #7dayjourney

“I believe that happy girls are the prettiest girls.” – Audrey Hepburn… You hear the term “natural beauty” a lot – but what does that really mean? Does it mean just skipping make-up? Is it about living organically? Do you connect the term with the beauty of nature that surrounds us? To me, it means living life in a way that is authentic, where your heart is happy, and you feel at peace. Being comfortable and confident in your own skin and being able to see the everyday joy in life is what makes someone beautiful – a relaxed smile on their face, good posture as they stand tall and walk with purpose, a glow that comes from being content with what you have and where you’re at. Since becoming a mother, I’ve gotten better at feeling as though I have “just enough” – who cares if I don’t have the latest handbag, when I have little toddler snuggles and smiles? And children grow so amazingly quickly, that it kind of forces you to slow down, to live “in the moment,” and to cherish the little things.

Kids have natural beauty

“A woman whose smile is open and whose expression is glad has a kind of beauty no matter what she wears.” – Anne Roiphe

This is my little love-bug, Abby Piper. To me, she is a perfect example of natural beauty – she’s young enough to not care what other people think of her. She’s innocent enough to not yet have learned to judge others. She’s just full of that exuberant joy that kids this age have – when she smiles, it’s like her whole SELF smiles. {If you’re the mom of a toddler, you know what I mean!} I hate that many of us grow out of this attitude as we get older. So while children often look up to their parents, I look up to HER too. She helps me to slow down, stop to check out a cool bug as we walk down the driveway to the car, or notice a bright-colored bird flying by. So to me – not only does she have a magical natural beauty about her, but she also helps me to see all of the beauty in nature every day.

Natural Beauty with Seventh Generation

“Nature gives you the face you have at twenty; it is up to you to merit the face you have at fifty.” – Coco Chanel

Another thing I’ve learned from Abby is how awesome Seventh Generation products are! When I found out that I was pregnant, I went on a mission to move towards a cleaner, greener lifestyle. We’re still far from perfect, but I’m proud of myself for the better choices we make these days. One of the first simple switches I made was to start buying Seventh Generation products – they have a passion for creating products that are safe for even the tiniest members of your family, and make them using sustainable business practices. We started with their baby care products, then swapped our cleaning products and detergents to theirs, and now I’m excited to use them myself in my daily routines. The peppermint soap is a serious pick-me-up on tired mornings, and the amazing make-up remover wipes are a serious help at night when I’m exhausted. I can’t recommend them enough…
