The days when a crying baby could be soothed with a pretend bottle and a snuggle in a toddler bed. When being a good mommy meant dragging your dolly through the mud as you played in the backyard. Those were the days, right? Little girls love to mimic the people around them, so having their own baby doll to diaper, feed, and hug lets them copy the things that they see mommy and daddy doing. Ok, a quick disclaimer here… I know that baby dolls can be for little boys too. I am a big believer that kids should play with whatever makes them happy. Abby loves her dinosaurs, helicopters, and dump truck. And her cousin likes to cook with her in the play kitchen, and help rock the baby dolls too. So while this post focuses on little girls and dollies, I do know little guys like to play daddy just as much as little girls like to play mommy :) Anyway… JC Toys sent us one of their Specialty Newborn babies, and I’m just amazed at the detail that they put into these dolls – while still making them sturdy enough for withstand all of the “love” a toddler gives her babies, lol. Abby’s new baby doll came with a couple of cloth diapers that she loves to change, two outfits {including this onesie that looks exactly like one Abby had as an infant. Love that.} and cute little baby booties.

As you can see, these dolls are perfectly proportioned for little girls – Abby loves to carry her around everywhere that she goes. I just adore this pic of her holding her babies hand…. So sweet. And here’s something else that I love: So many toys these days light up and make sounds and move around and… Well, practically do all the playing on their own. I like toys that are encourage kids to use their imagination, toys where they have to make up a story for themselves. Dolls are perfect for that – plus they help kids learn compassion and empathy… I love when Abby drops the baby, and says, “Oh no! Baby fall down…” She’ll pick her up and pat her on the back, “It’s ok baby, shhhhh, no crying. It’s ok…” So great.

My daughter loves baby dolls. She has one that she takes everywhere with her. I think she’d really get a kick out of the fact that some of these dolls from JC Toys are anatomically correct.
I’ve never been able to get my daughter to take to a doll – she has always picked toy animals over toy dolls. Maybe these very realistic dolls would be the answer!
I so want a girl so I can get her baby dolls. But, as a side not I bit off all my baby doll’s fingers when I was little – not sure what that says about me. Maybe I just didn’t have dolls that were as cute as these!
My daughter loves playing baby dolls. She loves to pretend to be a mommy. She puts them in her stroller and walks them, pretends tto feed and bathe them. To be young again!!
My niece loves dolls. I love that you pointed out that dolls help children build their imagination. I also like that you pointed out boys can also learn from playing with dolls my adopted son has a dolly he loves to play with. His parents hadn’t thought of getting him a doll when he was a baby and while at a friends how he fell in love with one of her daughters dolls. He got to bring it home and loves to play pretend with his dolly and he is very possessive of his dolly
These dolls are adorable. I know when I was a little girl I loved playing with dolls. I now have twin 2 year old boys and a baby girl. My boys take care of a doll while I take care of their sister so it’s cute to see that they like to play with dolls too. :)
Oh these dolls are so precious! I still remember my first doll….and how I had a little bunk bed set to play with and put her to bed! Such precious memories our dolls bring!!!! A doll is one toy …that will never go away!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I got one of their dolls for a little girl I watch and she totes it everywhere. They are amazing dolls and very well made! They are SO cute!
