What I Learned About Motherhood from Dory on Finding Nemo – #FindingDory

Parenting Advice from Dory, of Finding Nemo… I loved this movie before I even became a mom. I used to watch it all the time when my nephews would stay with me…. And admit to watching it a few times on my own too. {And yes, I cry every.single.time when the mom dies at the beginning. Darn these Disney-Pixar films pulling at my emotions!} And, with Mother’s Day around the corner {this Sunday!} I thought it was a great time to share some of the lessons I’ve learned from watching this movie so many times. Dory may or may not be a mother {would she remember?} – but she has some great lessons to teach us about motherhood….

Never watch a mediocre movie again

I love family movie night. In our family, it’s me, the Mister, and my little girl who will be three in July. A toddler makes a family night out a little more challenging… She wants to climb over the table and dump the salt shaker onto the heads of the customers at the next table if we go to a restaurant. She has a hard time staying quiet or in one place in a big movie theater. She loves to dance – but I don’t think a nightclub is quite our style, lol. So, making special movie nights at home is one of our regular weekend rituals!

A Trip Through Oz – Cosmetics, Casinos, and Bubbles!

“Somewhere over the rainbow, bluebirds fly….” – Am I the only one who can’t even just read those words – I sing them in my head. The Wizard of Oz was one of my absolute favorite movies as a little girl – and it’s still, to this day, one of my all time most loved films. I’ve watched it so many times, I practically have it memorized. I read the books growing up too – {The Emerald City of Oz was my favorite.} And I love that my little girl is now a fan of the movie too! So of course, you know that I am crazy-excited for the new imagining of Oz to come out. I’ve been dying waiting for this, for months now. Which is why I get even more excited each time they release a new clip of the movie! Check out this newest one…

He Didn’t Want to be a Good Man – He Wanted to be a Great One…

OZ THE GREAT AND POWERFUL… Was anyone else a major fan of The Wizard of Oz when they were a little girl too? It seems like it was my first “serious” movie – The drama of it all, the witch that scared me all to heck, the love that Dorothy felt for her family back at home. And it’s such a perfect coming of age style story – the journey to realizing that what really matters in life was there all along, you just didn’t take the time to notice it. This is still one of my all-time favorite films. So I’m very, very, VERY eager to see the new take on my favorite story… Coming in March of 2013, watch for the release of Oz the Great and Powerful!
