What Is Your Joy?

I received compensation for my work on this post about what brings me joy. This post was made possible by Mom Spark Media. Thoughts are my own.

It’s the season of joy. The season of thankfulness, of love, of happiness, of appreciation. The best season of the year! :) Which is why I’m going to share what makes me full of joy, and ask you to share the same with me. Why? Because joy needs to be shared. And because I always love hearing from you guys.

Vote in the #TastefullyCrafted Contest to Win a Trip to the Great American Beer Festival!

This post brought to you by Green Mountain Gringo all-natural chips and salsa. The content and opinions expressed below are that of Sunshine and Sippy Cups.

What does tastefully crafted mean to you? Is it a delicious family recipe passed down for years? Brewing your own beers or canning your own homegrown produce? Or maybe a favorite store-bought product… something that’s all natural, gluten-free, non-GMO, and fits into a vegetarian diet too? Those all sound #tastefullycrafted to me!

Gmg3_zpsb812dc6b

Right now Green Mountain Gringo, an all-natural craft salsa made right here in the US, in Winston-Salem, NC, is running a contest to celebrate what tastefully crafted means to you – since that’s the perfect description of their own products! By submitting a photo to their Facebook wall or on Instagram, using the #tastefullycrafted hashtag, you’ll get entered to win a trip for two to the Great American Beer Festival in Denver. How cool is that, right?

The Best Way to Buy Chicken

This post includes a referral link. But I’m sharing because I am totally in love with this company!

I don’t eat a lot of red meat – but I do LOVE me some chicken. We’re trying to cut down our expenses, and also trying to eat healthier this year. {The Mister quit drinking soda around Christmas, and has lost a ton of weight from just that change alone!} We buy our beef from a local farmer – we bought half a cow, and he portioned it just how we wanted it, and it was a great deal. We just ordered half a pig, which will be coming soon too. I love knowing that the meat I’m buying is free of yucky hormones and artificial junk.  But, I hadn’t found anywhere local to buy good quality chicken, in bulk, at a great price. Until we found Zaycon Foods. Seriously – I cannot believe I didn’t find out about them sooner!

Stay-at-Home Date Night Ideas

This post brought to you by Breyers Gelato Indulgences. All opinions are 100% mine.

“Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens, bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens. Brown paper packages tied up with strings – these are a few of my favorite things…”The Sound of Music. So, I love a good “night out.” A night with the Mister where I get dolled up, we have a babysitter, and we go out for a meal that someone else makes and cleans up, a movie that’s not Frozen, or some karaoke and dancing with friends. But, that’s not always in the cards. But even when we can’t go out for a date night, that doesn’t mean we can’t have date nights at home. And honestly – my Mister, some snuggle time, and great food and desserts are some of my favorite things, so a date night at home is sometimes even better than going out :) Here are a few ideas we use, that might help jump start your imagination on creating fun date nights at home too….

5 Minute Breakfast Bowls

This post is part of a social shopper marketing insight campaign with Pollinate Media Group™ and Jimmy Dean, but all my opinions are my own. #pmedia #RedboxBreakfast http://cmp.ly/3/8vNxcO.

I’m a breakfast lover. I tend to be quite a picky eater at most other meals, but there’s nothing breakfasty that I don’t. Sausage and bacon? Yes please! Scrambled eggs and potatoes? Pile ‘em high! Pancakes and french toast and muffins, oh my! A little conversation out of Winnie the Pooh sums up my feelings about breakfast perfectly:

“When you wake up in the morning, Pooh,” said Piglet at last, “what’s the first thing you say to yourself?”

“What’s for breakfast?” said Pooh. “What do you say, Piglet?”

“I say, I wonder what’s going to happen exciting today?” said Piglet.

Pooh nodded thoughtfully. “It’s the same thing,” he said.”

Lighten Up Your Life in 2014

“Enjoy life. There’s plenty of time to be dead.” - This quote kind of cracks me up, but also reminds me that life is too short to worry about the small things. My word of the new year is “Balance” –  figuring out how to balance out all of the zillion things competing for my time and attention on a daily basis as a work-from-home mom. I always use the month of January to make a plan for the new year – I evaluate the past year to figure out what worked, what didn’t, and what to work on in the new year. {Which means, my full list of goals is coming soon – I like to share ‘em, to keep myself accountable.} And one area of life that definitely needs to be balanced is the whole health/diet/exercise part. My game plan is a “slow and steady wins the race” type of attitude, so I’ve been making lots of small swaps to slowly-but-surely make real, solid, sustainable lifestyle changes. And while some of them are a challenge, there’s one super-duper easy swap I’ve made recently that I wanted to share, because I think you’ll love it too….

What Does it Mean to be Carton Smart?

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Carton Smart for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

Imagine if everyone made one small, smart decision a day. Swapping something bad for something good. Imagine how that would add up. There are a million ways to do that, but I’m going to talk to you about one you probably haven’t ever thought of – Cooking from cartons.
