Fun Ideas for Monsters Inc or Monsters U party!

As a member of the Collective Bias®  Social Fabric® Community, I’m super excited that they trusted me to share some sweet info about the new Monsters University themed toys and gear available at Walmart.  This shop has been compensated as part of a social shopper insights study for Collective Bias and their client.

Monsters University just hit U.S. theaters nearly 12 years after the original “Monsters, Inc.” theatrical debut… Have you seen it yet? I am craaaazy-excited to take the kids to see Monsters U this week! We are such big fans of the original Monsters Inc. movie – {I sometimes have a hard time finding cartoons with a really good message to them, but this one rocks} – so obviously as soon as I heard the news that there would be a new Monsters movie I was stoked. Then I read the review of Monsters University from Sippy Cup Mom, and got even more excited.

Monsters Scare Away Potty Training Fears

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Huggies Pull-Ups. I’m super excited that they trust us to share our best potty training tips with you ladies today…

“Kids these days. They just don’t get scared like they used to.” – Henry J. WaternooseThere are a few phrases that can strike fear into both kids and parents. Things like, “Dentist Appointment,” or “Longer than expected wait time” make everyone cringe. And when you say, “Potty training” – well, that can cause a lot of apprehension from both the kiddo that has to learn a new skill, and from a first-time parent who’s not sure where to start.

“Because I’m Your Dad” – the Perfect Way to Celebrate Dad this Father’s Day

“Because I’m your dad, you can have spaghetti for breakfast, French toast for dinner, and rocky road ice cream in the bathtub” Father’s Day is just around the corner, making it a great time to take a few moments to stop and think about all of the amazing dads in our lives. Dads who helped bring you into the world, dads who adopted you, men who were like a dad to you, the dad to your children, friends and family who are rockin’ the job of dad. So what better time to share an amazing book that we have totally fallen in love with here in my home, called “Because I’m Your Dad” – right?

Because I'm Your Dad

Because I’m Your Dad, by Ahmet Zappa

Ahmet Zappa is the son of late rock musician/composer Frank Zappa and, as he puts it, “My awesome mother, Gail.” Because I’m Your Dad is both a tribute to his happy childhood and a promise to his daughter, Halo. Ahmet grew up with a learning disability and now writes books to help children discover how wonderful reading can be. Through his production company, Monsterfoot Productions, Ahmet has developed several television shows and movies, including “The Odd Life of Timothy Green.” {And if you saw the film, you know he’s an absolutely amazing storyteller. Like, stellar.}

Celebrate all the Dads in your life this Father’s Day

If you’re looking for some fun Father’s Day ideas, I’ve got a whole board of pins that are all about dad – from bacon and beer based recipes, to creative DIY gift ideas – on my Father’s Day Pinterest board. And speaking of DIY – check out this adorable set of Printable “Fun Time with Dad” Coupons that you can use to make your own free gift for dad. And why not include a copy of this super fun book too? {Buy it here – Because You’re My Dad official site.} It’s got a really great message – uplifting and positive, and a great way to share with any dad in your life that you love and appreciate them. But it’s not too mushy or sappy, and the rhyming text is silly enough to make the little ones giggle as you read it. Get a feel for it here:

Why this book rocks

In a text that’s both playful and loving, a father expresses his hopes and dreams for a one-of-a-kind relationship with his child. Whimsical monster characters bring the silly and sweet scenes to life and keep the book universal. The book’s ending, a moving tribute to the author’s father, guarantees intergenerational appeal.

What I Learned About Motherhood from Dory on Finding Nemo – #FindingDory

Parenting Advice from Dory, of Finding Nemo… I loved this movie before I even became a mom. I used to watch it all the time when my nephews would stay with me…. And admit to watching it a few times on my own too. {And yes, I cry every.single.time when the mom dies at the beginning. Darn these Disney-Pixar films pulling at my emotions!} And, with Mother’s Day around the corner {this Sunday!} I thought it was a great time to share some of the lessons I’ve learned from watching this movie so many times. Dory may or may not be a mother {would she remember?} – but she has some great lessons to teach us about motherhood….

A Trip Through Oz – Cosmetics, Casinos, and Bubbles!

“Somewhere over the rainbow, bluebirds fly….” – Am I the only one who can’t even just read those words – I sing them in my head. The Wizard of Oz was one of my absolute favorite movies as a little girl – and it’s still, to this day, one of my all time most loved films. I’ve watched it so many times, I practically have it memorized. I read the books growing up too – {The Emerald City of Oz was my favorite.} And I love that my little girl is now a fan of the movie too! So of course, you know that I am crazy-excited for the new imagining of Oz to come out. I’ve been dying waiting for this, for months now. Which is why I get even more excited each time they release a new clip of the movie! Check out this newest one…

He Didn’t Want to be a Good Man – He Wanted to be a Great One…

OZ THE GREAT AND POWERFUL… Was anyone else a major fan of The Wizard of Oz when they were a little girl too? It seems like it was my first “serious” movie – The drama of it all, the witch that scared me all to heck, the love that Dorothy felt for her family back at home. And it’s such a perfect coming of age style story – the journey to realizing that what really matters in life was there all along, you just didn’t take the time to notice it. This is still one of my all-time favorite films. So I’m very, very, VERY eager to see the new take on my favorite story… Coming in March of 2013, watch for the release of Oz the Great and Powerful!
