Pura Vida Hop-a-Rita Recipe

You guys might remember a few months ago that I had the awesome opportunity to get tickets to the RockstarUPROAR festival in Seattle, to meet up with the band Godsmack, and get a VIP experience to try out the amazing Pura Vida tequila on their tour bus. You can see some pictures and video in my post about the festival here. It was super cool to meet the band, and really awesome to get to hear from the people behind the Pura Vida tequila brand – how they got started, how they make it from the highest quality ingredients. I know a lot of people who say they can’t drink tequila. Well, lemme tell ya – this is NOT the tequila you drank in college, my friends :) This stuff is smooth enough for sipping over ice. And it’s even better when mixed into some fabulous drinks. I got to try a couple of awesome drinks while on the tour bus at the concert, and visiting with the band – and was sent an awesome package of complimentary product once I got home, to test out some cool drink recipes to share with you. Here’s a favorite….

Pura Vida Hop-a-Rita Tequila Recipe

Introducing the Pura Vida Hop-A-Rita Recipe! It combines the smoothness of the Pura Vida tequila with the sweetness of the Pura Vida Naranja {which, side note, every time I see this bottle I read it as Narnia. But that shows my book-nerd side, lol.} – plus the flavor of hops and lime. Perfection, anytime. Here’s the info on how to make this crafty concoction yourself:

Ingredients:

1.5 oz pura vida gold
.5 oz naranja
1 oz fresh lime juice
.25 oz agave nectar

Add all ingredients to a shaker. Then shake it. While shaking the drink, I also advise shaking your booty. To the song of your choice. Some excellent choices – Taylor Swift, Shake it Off. Shake it Like a Salt Shaker. Or my newest fave, Uptown Funk :)
Next, you pour this amazingness into a glass. Then top with 3 oz karbach hopadilla. And drink, and enjoy with a smile. Share with friends. Good times.

How to start a spring garden - planting trees

How to start a spring garden

My mom is a serious gardener. Like, amazing. Which means over the past few years, I’ve learned a ton from her. And I love that she doesn’t just help me grow pretty stuff, like flowers and greenery, but also practical stuff like fruits, nuts, herbs, and veggies. She rocks. And as we gear up for spring planting time {I know, I know, some of you still have snow. But here in Central Washington, it’s oddly super springtime already!} I thought I’d share a few tips if you want to get your own spring garden ready for blooming too. [Read more…]

7 Winter Soup Recipes

Here where I live, in Central Washington – {Yakima, Washington to be exact} – we normally have loads of snow each year. This year? Nothing. While it seems like everyone else in the country is being overloaded with snow, we’ve had one powdered-sugar style dusting. So weird. And totally disappointing to me, since I love snow. But, it’s still pretty cold. And when it’s cold, I totally get in the mood for soup! If you’re a winter soup lover too, then you’ll love this collection of awesome winter soup recipes!

Tortellini Soup

This Tortellini Soup is one of my very favorites. So, I’ll share that recipe, plus a bunch of my other favorites, in the list below. Then you’ll have a ton of awesome soup ideas for the next month, until we warm up for summer :)

7 Winter Soup Recipes

Are you hungry yet? I am :) You can add french bread, toasty garlic rounds like I share in the first recipe, the one shown in the pic above – or some homemade cornbread, to make it a meal. {I’m a carb-lover, so I always need some type of bread at each meal!}

Chosen Chix

Want more Winter inspiration? Well, I’m not the only one sharing seven things about winter! Check out my fellow Chosen Chix and some of their thoughts on winter:

How to Raise a Fancy Cat

This post is part of a social shopper marketing insight campaign with Pollinate Media Group®, Litter Genie® and Fancy Feast®, but all my opinions are my own. #pmedia #Catparents http://my-disclosur.es/OBsstV.

When I used to work in retail, the younger girls made fun of me. They said that because I was near 30, no kids yet, not married, and owned a stray cat I’d adopted, that I’d end up being an old crazy cat lady. This was at The Buckle, where they make a sort of “account” for you when you shop. So that later, when you come back, we can tell you exactly what size and style of jeans you bought last time, that sort of thing. Well, a year after I stopped working there, and was shopping, and my friends weren’t there anymore, the person ringing me up started laughing. He didn’t want to tell me, so I looked at the screen, and under my name, for info, it said, “Crazy cat lady.” Well played my friends, well played <3

At the time, it seemed a likely future for me. But then that stray cat was lost, I moved, I had a baby, and bought a house. Getting out of crazy cat lady territory. And then….  this last Christmas eve, my Mister brought home a surprise kitten for Abby’s Christmas present, and I became a cat lady once again….
