What You Might Not Know About Reviewer’s Retreat, 2012

Reviewers Retreat

“The only way of finding the limits of the possible is by going beyond them into the impossible.” – Arthur C. Clarke

I love to challenge myself. And this is a good trait to have when you are your own boss – I have to be disciplined enough to meet deadlines, even if I have to do them at 2 am in my pajamas. I have to be motivated enough to get up again at 6 am, so I can get some work done while the baby sleeps. I’m the receptionist, the bookkeeper, the reporter, the editor, the marketer – and of course, the mommy. But, when you challenge yourself, and set your own goals, and work hard to achieve them – It feels amazing to know that you accomplished great things, and you did it yourself.

“Every artist was first an amateur.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson

I started my blogging adventure in March of 2011 – so I haven’t even made it to my One Year Blogiversary yet. My story of how I started this site earned me a place as a winner in the StartUp Nation’s Home-Based 100 – and you can learn more about me and my story by reading my About Me page. During the 10 months that I’ve been building and growing this site, I have put hundreds of hours into learning as much as I can about blogging, and social media, and marketing, and a million other things. I’ve reached out and made amazing connections with new blogging friends. And I can’t WAIT to share what I have learned with some NEW blogging friends – As a speaker at this summer’s Reviewer’s Retreat 2012! Yep – that’s the big news that you might not have heard yet…. I am so super-duper excited about this. {Can you tell?}

review blog conference

“Success does not consist in never making blunders, but in never making the same one a second time.” – Josh Billings

I’ll be speaking at a session for “Undergraduates” {meaning, newer bloggers} called, “Growing Your Audience”, with Rob Babiak, Melinda Babiak. We’ll be talking about – “So you created a fabulous site and are ready to put out the welcome mat, but where are your visitors? Learn how to promote yourself in order to grow your followers, fans and overall readership!” – I am by no means an expert blogger. But I have learned so much, and am incredibly excited to share my mistakes AND my successes, so that you can learn from both.

“No great man ever complains of want of opportunities.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson

If you’re ready to take your blogging to the next level – Make some amazing connections with both bloggers and brands, learn from amazing people like Amy Bellgardt at Mom Spark Media, and just have a blast – {this event is at the Great Wolf Lodge and Waterpark!} – then this conference is a must for you.

“The 2nd annual Reviewer’s Retreat will be held June 3-5, 2012 at Great Wolf Lodge, Concord-Charlotte, NC. Reviewer’s Retreat is first conference geared specifically toward the issues and challenges faced by bloggers in the product review genre, a topic that is lacking from most conference agendas. Review bloggers, those who conduct product and resource reviews on their site, will converge to take part in sessions on a variety of topics including brand-blogger relations, website design, perfecting the pitch, statistics, photography and more.  This brand-friendly conference welcomes company and agency representatives as building and strengthening relationships between bloggers and brands is one of the conference’s primary goals.”
